Most owners land in the high 8s, and the port cask is the whole conversation. The nose is all raspberry jam, sour cherry and a whiff of solvent; the palate turns sharp and tart — full Grand Arôme ester fruit meeting sweet, winey port and wet wood. A few feel the port marks it too heavily and holds the Savanna profile back. At 49.2% it stays intense without being hot.

Extreme and not for every day. If you go for it, you will be rewarded with a great Grand Arôme. Pleasant acidity on the palate. A stunner.

Even if I like Savanna, the port cask finish is so heavy that it does not play with the standars light profile of Savanna rum Rumy z destilerie Savanna jsou jedny z mych nejoblibenejsich. Doporucuji kazdemu vyzkouset zejmena vuce esterove kousky jako je Grand arome nebo HERR. Tolik ovoce v nekolika malo kapkach tekutiny jste dlouho necitili.

A really successful Savanna that, despite its relatively low ABV, impresses with surprising complexity. The aromas are multi-layered and exciting. The port finish is clearly present and gives the rum a fruity, sweet depth without overshadowing the typical Savanna DNA. This remains clearly recognizable with its characteristic slightly funky and spicy notes. Overall a harmonious interplay

Grand Arôme grand result. A nice and fruity rum with wood, spices and caramel in a lovely mix with the tannins and port cask finish. Chocolate is very obvious in the empty glass after a while.

Une bouteille bien entamée. Un nez de solvants avec de la framboise, de la cerise amère. Une bouche vive, mais aussitôt beaucoup de fruits avec de la cerise aigre des fruits secs et des fruits tropicaux. Une finale assez longue toujours sur les fruits avec une cerise qui ressort nettement. J’aime !

Small, private Savanna Coss tasting 2025-07-10: Wow! Quite sour! The nose already quite fruity, but on the palate the full load of sour cherry and raspberry. Very tasty! Would like it a bit stronger, then we'd be closer to 9.0.

Smell: fruity aromatic, sweet and round. Smells of chocolate, port wine, and raspberry jam. Also faintly floral with green bark. Taste: mild and sweet in the mouth with distinct port wine aromas, then becomes spicy. When swallowing, spicy (ginger, cinnamon), woody and sharp. Tastes of caramel and tobacco. Finish: long and spicy. Watery-winey in the aftertaste with wet wood. Conclusion: very tasty but by no means outstanding molasses rum from my favorite distillery.

Ah well, breaking a sample bottle is a great reason to try whats left of the sample. Unfortunately it feels like a great rum was diminished by the port cask. Dont get me wrong, this is still nice, and really clearly porto and grand arome. it just does not excel and for me the porto is holding it back massively
