Ten years in oak, yet several tasters wish it hit harder. The nose is the highlight — pear, rose, dried apricot, a little marzipan and spice, nicely balanced. Then the palate turns dry and woody with a bit of tobacco, and vanilla starts to dominate. More than one member found the finish short and the whole thing a touch light for its age.

Nose: Obvious woodiness; plenty of cinnamon and light black pepper. A bit of varnish and just beneath it a nice esteriness. Grassy, sugarcane juice is felt. Raspberry, currant. Obvious vanilla bean. Freshly cut wood. Maybe a bit of coconut. Black pepper becomes more apparent over time, with allspice added. Red pepper. A bit of pear. Very spicy. Slight solventy, maybe glue. Banana peel and tea bag. A nose that, without being overly complex, guarantees to please spice lovers, good. 83 Palate: A nice body, if not exactly medium, slightly above. Esters are noticeable; light brine and green olive, banana peels. Raspberry and currant-like background still present here. Cinnamon, pepper, allspice likewise. A bit of nutmeg added. Some cardboard and tea bag again. Sweetness slightly above medium. Szechuan pepper. Cocoa fruit (not cocoa). Like gauze. I might be echoing my thoughts from the nose here, but the palate also pleases spice lovers without being too complex, gaining extra points for body. The balance part raises a small question mark with so much spiciness. 82 Finish: Here, freshness increases with mint leaves added alongside nutmeg. Oak influence is still quite obvious. Szechuan pepper and black pepper. Slight plastic note. Very light citrus; like Buddha’s hand. Herbal, grassy side further underlines this freshness; wormwood-like vermouthiness or maybe tarragon. A finish with medium-low intensity and medium length. 83 Overall impression: Felt through the degree of complexity even if not through the diluted body. This dilution might have played a role in the obviousness of the spicy aromas. The nice underlying esteriness and herbal freshness successfully prevent monotony. A release that doesn’t impress much but isn’t poor either. 82 Total: 82.5 [82] Price-performance: Medium-good Would I buy again?: Trying was enough

Starts with an elegant nose of pear, dried fruits, floral notes, and fine spices. However, it loses tension on the palate. Vanilla and wood dominate, the finish is short and somewhat bitter. A decent Agricole that initially promises more than it ultimately delivers.

Here too we have an average Agricole. The nose is slightly woody, but pear is also recognizable. On the palate I can then detect notes of vanilla. Also woody and very spicy.

An agricole rum with a beautiful nose of pear, spices, vegetal and rose. A soft palate with a bit too much vanilla, dried fruits and an earthy side. A short finish where unfortunately vanilla dominates. A beautiful rum with its limits.

Lack of character and alcoholic strength to bring out the aromas of this old agricole rum. In the end, it is way too light in richness and aromatic intensity, in summary a light woody note carried by vanilla without much character although this rum has undergone 10 years of aging. Disappointing.

My first Damoiseau.... Excited like a flea.... Let's go for the nose.... A subtle bouquet between sweetness and floral. A nice balance... some barrel touches tickle your nostrils... Really a nice balance. On the palate it's the complete opposite... Dry like any good Frenchman, woody, a bit tobacco and astringency in the medium finish with grassy touches... Too bad the sweetness and balance of the nose is annihilated by this disappointing palate. A bit disappointed.

Particular on the spices, candied fruits on the nose which are found on the palate with a somewhat unintegrated phenolic finish, like a pastry rum. Medium length.
