Sip this one neat and give it time — 15 minutes in the glass and the nose opens into cherry, orange, wood and honey. It's an old Damoiseau agricole at cask strength, but the 56.3% sits quietly: burnt caramel, dark cherry, leather and milk chocolate, all balanced against the cask. One taster puts it near the legendary 1980. The finish runs long for most, though a couple note it fades faster than expected.

If you like Bellevue then this is one of the really good ones. Price to quality was great at release. The nose is intense and fruity with wood, cinnamon, honey and herbal notes after resting for more than 15 minutes. The palate is both intense, complex and well balanced with fruit, honey and leather with light candied, chocolate and herbal notes. The finish is extremely long with dried fruit, wood, leather, honey and herbal notes. Leave the empty glass for a few hours and whiff it again to get the full experience.

I didn't expect to find a rum so close to the perfection of damoiseau 1980, but this 1991 selected by Velier is really close and might be even better. Typical old Damoiseau, wood and citrus on the nose and a great complexity drink side

What a rum! Beautiful old damoisseau profile with wonderful fruits that are fantastically balanced with wood and dark cask notes!

Leather, wood, cherry on the nose. In the mouth, lightly burnt caramel with dark cherries and nuts. Plus that slight spiciness from the cask. At the back, milk chocolate comes through. Really full in the mouth. The finish is surprisingly short though.

Drunk for the second time ... on the nose I'm not completely won over by the wet dog, leather ... although the licorice toffee 😍😍. On the other hand, on the palate I find it much more pleasant and appealing with a nice long finish ...

Amazing rum. I can compare to Velier 1980's release and both are great. Full of citrus notes, wood, honey, herbal and spicy notes, very smooth with great alcohol integration. Well deserved 91points.
