Made for people who already chase Savanna's Grand Arôme funk and want it dialed up to the extreme. Strawberry-yogurt, bubble gum, overripe pineapple and furniture polish pour out of the glass — a full ester fruit bomb. At 63.8% the alcohol sits surprisingly well integrated, with a long finish. Widely treated as the reference HERR, but that artificial-candy sweetness isn't for everyone.

Very intense and complex profile with an impressive mix of ripe fruit, spice, and distinctive ester aromas. On the palate dense and multilayered, yet precisely structured. The long finish combines fruit, wood, and light bitter notes, showing how powerful and well-balanced Savanna can be.

Liked by some, but for me the smell, aromas and taste are really awful. Liquid Hubba Bubba bubble gum and a barrage of artificial-looking aromatics immediately trigger headaches and negative associations for me. I do not have to have, for me completely disgusting and undrinkable. 3.9 because then comes "drinkable" in the ranking, which it is definitely not for me.

RumX Rarities jour 3 et petite dégustation Savanna. Explosion de fruits au nez, mirabelle, abricot, ananas alcoolisé, esters mais aussi du bubble gum et un côté fermenté un peu moins agréable. Explosion de fruits en bouche aussi, ananas alcoolisé, mirabelle, melon trop mûr. Puis un étrange arôme de chewing-gum mâché trop longtemps, de fermenté et de fraise chimique. La finale est longue avec des arômes très Savanna, chewing-gum, camomille et dentifrice à la fraise et au menthol. Un rhum explosif 🧨, super intéressant, original et avec beaucoup de personnalité. Goûté en parallèle avec “Blanc” et il est beaucoup moins agréable mais goûté seul il est délicieux.

Little Savanna GA & HERR cross tasting: Holy F - this is pure HERR essence on the nose. Plenty of esters. Fruity chewing gum and menthol. Intense and positively weird. Excellent. On the palate, this one is just as much of a weapon as on the nose. Intense esters providing ample of tropical fruits and strawberries. Very adstringent. The wildness in this one really sets it apart in the line up and puts it very much up there on the „HERR essence scale“ if you‘d like.

A Savanna Grand Arôme to the extreme, very intense aromatically. The nose is extremely fruity, with notes of ripe tropical fruit and red fruit, notably strawberry. There's also a strong chemical side, reminiscent of a candy like Tagada Strawberries or Harlequin candies. This medicinal side of polish and ferment, almost chewing-gum-like, is accompanied by a discreet woodiness and an impression of fruitcake. A truly interesting olfactory facet of Grand Arôme. The attack on the palate is very intense. There's a chemical and synthetic sweetness, boosted by medicinal notes and accompanied by very ripe exotic fruit. Subtle spices and oak add balance to the profile. The alcohol is extremely well integrated. This is a heavy, aromatic and concentrated profile, but with great finesse in its flavors. The finish is interminable and equally concentrated. Fruit comes to the fore, with melon in particular, but also a medicinal and vanilla touch. A superbly well-crafted profile, rich yet masterful. Great liquid art.

On the nose it is spacey, flooding the room with its scents of strawberry/big babol, melon, pineapple, banana, maracuja and other tropical fruits in addition to the esters/ripened.On the palate the ripened/ester, some roasted, strawberry/big babol, melon, papaya and pepper linger on the long, intense finish (I can't find the maracuja note that others mention). Abv integrated well, but not very rounded, the big babol note covers everything else a bit and I don't like big babol in general(hence the low rating, although objectively it remains a great rum). A unique candy in the empty big babol glass, esters and mild roasted. Thanks to Hendrick's for the opportunity.

the #3 from the Rarities calendar. A real board! In the GA profile, I've often noted red fruits (strawberries, sour cherries, sometimes red fruit jelly). I don't find that here, but I do find a nice passion fruit note. A real unique selling point in this respect. Chewing tobacco and spices on the palate. There is smoked bacon on the finish.

One of my absolute favorite rums, an insane fruit bomb! Ester, chewing gum, strawberry, everything you expect from a HERR. Plus just the right wood aging and strength, with perfectly integrated alcohol.

Flavor explosion. Like the Japoniani but everything is just more extreme. Too intense for me. I wish it was a bit more easy-drinking. But it definitely has its fans.

This rum is a real ester bomb: tropical, powerful, and well balanced. It reminds me of overripe fruit compote with mango, papaya, and pineapple. There are also roasted aromas, a hint of barley and grain, as well as light milky notes. The sweetness and strength are well matched. The finish is long and intense. What impresses me most is how harmoniously everything fits together. An outstanding rum that absolutely deserves its reputation.

Oh My God - this one is awesome! It consist all taste of standard HERR - red and yellow fruits. Gummi bears on steroids. But this is 10yo. Calmed alcohol, integrated, mild but the taste remains. MUST TRY BEFORE DIE!

On aeration, pungent, rotten notes arise, briny, dairy hints, some cherries, candied fruits, wax and rubber, chocolate, caramel, vanilla join, meaty touch. 9,1:On the palate, the attack is medicinal with esters, wax, pungent with fermented, rotten fruits like strawberry, pineapple, banana, papaya, melon, litchi, some candied, dairy hints, molasses is vegetal with briny olive, herbaceous, floral, grassy with hay and the wood is roasted with caramel, crème brûlée, spicy with allspice, vanilla, red pepper, dry, smoky, oily, concentrated, complex, yet balanced, delicious. 9:The finish is long, dry&tannic, medicinal with esters and glue, fruity with fermented, overripe tropical and red, green fruits, pungent, rotten, oak is roasted with chocolate, vanilla, caramelized, smoky and molasses is grassy, minty, flowery with Jasmine.

Absolute grenade. Definitely one of the best HERR's out there. Insanely awesome experience and rightly in the Olympus of the best Savannas. Overripe green apple, fermented pineapple and strawberry, cinnamon marshmallows and chamomile tea with a bit of Wick menthol candies and an intense acid structure like green granny smith apples, then the chamomile and then subtly spicy cinnamon and wild strawberries. Awesome stuff!

Wow, beautiful grenade I would have said. But in my opinion it unfortunately doesn't quite manage to dethrone the Savanna Blanc Paris in my ranking, but just barely behind. Unfortunately the price is the deciding factor that keeps me from buying more here.

Fascinating! Aromatic! Unique! When I first smelled the sample bottle, I had no idea what an amazing aroma would later pour out of the glass. The nose just bursts with fruits and esters. Tropical fruits, strawberries, pineapple, melon, lychee, and vegetal aromas give way to polish, overripe fruits, and green apple. On the palate, a spectacle unfolds. Esters, pineapple, passion fruit, bubblegum, tropical fruits, and strawberries head in a slightly woody direction before lychee, melon, and red pepper take over and cleverly expand the aromatic complexity. Terribly delicious and multi-layered! The long finish also manages to impress. Strawberry esters, fruits, papaya, green apple, lychee, mint, and tannins are complemented by a slightly malty note, making the finish exciting and unique. Savanna Esterbombe der Spitzenklasse. Die künstliche Erdbeer-Kaugummi-Haribo Aromatik muss man schon mögen und es ist eher etwas für ab umd zu – aber ein echter Hammer und hier in Perfektion in die Flasche gebracht. Einer der wenigen Rums wo‘s wirklich wurscht ist, was man vorher gegessen hat 😂

WHAT A RHUM! It spreads all over the tongue once you take the first sip. Green banana, banana, papaya, the buttery notes of overripe papaya (which not everyone likes). A perfect sweetness, perfect integration of the abv, even in great balance and harmony with the glue and polish. Benchmark for the high esther rums!

What a rum. This is really something... The color is a rather inconspicuous amber, clear and bright. On the nose, the first aroma shower hits. Furniture polish, bubble gum, honeydew melon, strawberry. All lively ester-fruity. Soft and round at the same time. Well integrated ABV. The palate is the hit. Everything even stronger. Same aroma spectrum, long-lasting. Super tasty finishing on the ester notes. No wonder it's considered a reference bottling for Savanna HERR. I'm thrilled.

A flavor explosion from the first sip. You have to like the extreme style, but then it's a great rum. Strawberry, ice candy and Juicy Fruit gum with an endlessly long finish. Alcohol is good but not perfectly integrated.

A truly wild ride with a distinctive profile. However, for the following reasons, I can't give it a top rating: 1. It reminds me too much of Chinese Baijiu, which I have some traumatic experiences with 😀 2. I don't really like the mouthfeel with the slight tingling on the tongue 3. Despite all the intensity, the rum lacks a certain complexity. Overall, though, it's still a privilege to have been able to try a rum with this reputation.

Decent rum. Nose is rather slow at the beginning, strawbery and esters dominate. Well balanced taste, tropical fruits, herbal, esters, wood, some caramel and reasted sugar at finish (little too much for me). Not 9+ for me but very drinkable.
