15.02.2020 Had a nice evening with dinner and everything and after that a nice little tasting. Notes. Very dark in colour. Nose Wood, roasted, vegetal, petrol, light tomato, spice. Palate Oily, wood, roasted, honey, dried fruit, salty, pepper. Finish Medium long to long, wood, citrus, vegetal, light mint.

On the nose, the whole palette of typical distillery aromas immediately stands out, almost unmistakable, pleasant but not as strong as in other releases of other bottlings, overall excellent. On the palate, it needs some resting, in my opinion the alcohol slightly overpowers the palate. After more than thirty minutes it becomes slightly gentler on the palate while the nose improves considerably. In the glass it is quite viscous, considering I tasted it with two different glasses designed to best characterize both nose and palate. Overall it is pleasant and decisive except for the alcoholic note, personally I don't find it too balanced. (PS: the rating, like the impressions, are purely personal)

Wow, great rum from the Fijis here, I'm getting more and more excited for next year :) You could also call this Hampden, esters, solvents, and (overripe) tropical fruits are recognizable here. Great stuff.

On the nose rubber shavings, rubber and a musty cellar. On the palate then typical Fiji profile with minimal saltiness and some ester influences. On the finish wood, slight bitterness and some sweetness. Unfortunately quite a short finish. Alcohol well integrated, you can feel the steam. For the 2001 vintage not an outstanding Fiji, but still a very good rum.

Bottle Great, no words. The peaty maybe the best I've ever drunk. Rollercoaster of flavors and aromas. Dark, light. Salty, sweet. Estery, clean. All together. Tropical, dirty, salty, smoke, olives almost on the Jamaica border! Excellent bottle definitely worth buying. Not for every palate but with patience and love for adventures everyone can enjoy it.
