Epic Velier Caroni Tasting 2023: Aromatically a stunner, but the alcohol remains present. At just under 70%, this is not really a point of criticism, the rum is still excellent and fun to drink. Definitely one of the outstanding tropical representatives of the 1998 vintage.

Caroni essence as it is written in the book. Wild bitter vanilla concentrate, car paint, burnt rubber, dark chocolate, fresh mentholated allspice and a hint of salted caramel! Fat! Thanks Oli for the opportunity ❣️

A very nice Caroni! The nose is amazing with lots of caramel! On the palate it is massively hot! Almost too strong for me, lots of alcahol. Still a wonderfully complex caroni if taken in very small sips, tar, rubber, wood, some dark chocolate, with a long finish.

... Caroni is a distillery from Trinidad, producing at the time of its greatest glory rum, which was added at a ratio of 1:10 to the naval blend. It was too strong and strange to be pleasant on the tongue. In 2000, the distillery ceased production and closed. Only in 2010 did tasters appear who took a liking to the rum because of its special taste. And the interest grew. Caroni belongs to the category of "you need to try before you die" rums. I recommend it, Caroni is a truly unique rum.

This rum comes in very powerful and strong. The alcohol can burn especially if you take larger sips. The price is pretty fair for a product of this quality and definitely worth a try if you're a connoisseur.

Another 1998 vintage from the Employees special edition. Nose is slightly too dry to my liking but the palate brings fruity and round notes giving more complexity and balance to this profile. A very good rum but does not take the crown of 1998 vintage from Ramgobie in my opinion.
