Roasted spice and nutmeg lead here, backed by nougat, dark chocolate, oak and a dried-fruit sweetness that never tips into sugary. This 14-year Depaz agricole is bottled at cask strength, so it runs hot and dark on the palate. One taster called the nose "fresh and fruity" while the mouth turns drier and spicier — a split several members noticed, though most still found the whole thing balanced and long.

This was the last rum during our trip to Amsterdam and it was also really good. Price to quality is very good in my mind. The nose is fresh and fruity with wood, cane, caramel and and spices. The palate is balanced and oily with fruits, roasted wood, spices, cane, nuts and light notes of grass. The finish is medium long with wood, tropical fruits, spices and light nutty notes.

I just don't like Agricoles and always first taste what I don't like (grassy notes, citrus peel, etc.)... but here there are also nice nougat notes on the palate. Overall, it still doesn't grab me.

An exuberant cask-strength rum on the nose, with many fruit aromas (red fruits, yellow fruits, citrus, and dried fruits), sweet notes of sugarcane, caramel, and pastries, a hint of solvents, and notes of tobacco, chocolate, and spices for a very harmonious, controlled, and delicious whole. The rum is however more powerful once in the mouth, with a very spicy framework (nutmeg, vanilla, pepper, clove, cinnamon), roasted, leather, coffee, dark chocolate, and dried fruits, for a particularly dry and dark profile. The very long finish extends on earthy and tobacco notes, spices, a light fruitiness, and a pleasant touch of freshness. An intense and complex Depaz, unfortunately a bit too divisive between the nose and the palate.

In direct comparison with cask 503, this one shows a bit more fire on the palate, alongside a lot of typical profile: peppery spices, cocoa, hazelnuts, cask aromas and also pleasant fruit notes, both fresh and dried fruit. Harmonious and round.

Very very good. The nose is oriented more towards fruits, but jammy fruits. A honeyed and floral side also expresses itself as well as dry hay under the sun. The palate carries more of the weight of the years, with chocolate, wood, leather and tobacco especially at the finish. Also a very spicy character like chili and ginger but aeration rounds off the edges nicely. Added to that nougat, macaron and orange which bring a nice indulgence. The agricole character gives a welcome aeration in this concentration. I didn't like the 2004 much but very happy with this 2005 bought at an excellent price.

Once again a nice bottling from Depaz, with plenty of power. On the nose still quite fruity (mainly citrus fruits), with sugarcane and honey. On the palate and in the finish rather spicy, roasted and woody, with a pleasant nougat note.

I simply like the Depaz Single Casks, this one also pleases. The obligatory apple, plus spices, wood and a bit of nougat on the finish. Really good, but the 2002 bottlings are another league above.

A real marvel this Depaz! A nose of fruits and spices, a little toasted side, a mouth to die for mixing fruits (nuts, coconut, red fruits), a woodiness with fine oak, soft spices. The finish is quite long on roasted spices, a little vanilla side. Excellent!
