Helios Teeda Aged 21 Years 1998
Rum from Japan is the first surprise here, and it drinks a lot like Japanese whisky — soft and velvety despite the 48%. Expect toffee, milk-caramel (one taster nailed it as Werther's Original), vanilla, wood and a wisp of smoke. Give the nose 15 minutes to open. A few find the wood astringent and the caramel almost burnt, but most are won over.
The community says- Amazing nose
- Silky for 48%
- But: Woody, astringent

How does Helios Teeda Aged 21 Years 1998 taste?
Aggregated from 25 community reviews.
Soft, whisky-like Japanese sipper, all caramel and wood Most love the amazing nose and silky, whisky-like body; complex wood, spice and smoke well balanced for the proof. A couple find it too woody-astringent with near-burnt caramel.

This was not a cheap bottle and though my wife is Japanese, she had problems locating a bottle. Japan is not well known for rum yet, but it's slowly spreading like whisky did many years ago. The nose on this bottle is truly amazing especially if you leave it for 15 minutes or more to really release everything. The palate is velvety and complex with spices, wood and smoke really well balanced with the proof. Only 2500 bottles made and I'm happy one of them is on my shelf.

This one is a surprise for me! I did know the rum before and it is definitely not bad. Sweet amd mild, pretty similar to japanese whisky style. I like it. Surprise of the year for me! Friendly rum club advent 2024

velmi zvláštní netypická chuť. Myslím že jsem nic podobného doposud nechutnal. V chuti mi to připomíná Werther's Original bonbony.

Great nose, very good

The impression of a bad finish. Astringent woodiness. Fortunately, the Prune finish lifts it all. But I don't like the almost burnt caramel aspect.
