Rum Nation Diamond Small Batch Rare Rums 2005
Solid, characterful Guyanese rum where smoky whisky-cask notes, chocolate and dried fruits create a bold, niche profile that many enjoy, especially after some aeration.
Whisky drinkers (especially Islay fans) and rum geeks who enjoy smoky, roasted, leathery notes over classic sweet Guyana fruitiness.

How does Rum Nation Diamond Small Batch Rare Rums 2005 taste?
Smoky Guyana rum for Islay fans
You’ll enjoy this if you like Islay or peated whisky finishes and want to see that smoky ashtray-meets-Guyana profile; if you prefer classic sweet Demerara, skip it.
Beginners, sweetness-seekers, or anyone who dislikes peaty whisky and dominant smoke in their rum.

Guyana meets Islay. Abartig, aber irgendwie auch geil.
Whiskey finishes hardly ever make real sense in rum in my eyes - unfortunately, I can't shake that feeling here either. While the smokiness can certainly be said to have a complementary effect, for me as a lover of the classic Guyana profile with heavy sweetness, dark fruits and dense aromatics, these flavors are simply not needed. In the end, however, everyone may decide for themselves, it does not really pick me up.
