Rum Nation Diamond Small Batch Rare Rums 2005
Smoke and ash hit first — one taster calls the palate a "flüssiger Aschenbecher," basically a liquid ashtray, with peat, tobacco, dark chocolate and burnt sugar underneath. It's Guyana Diamond pot still given a heavy Islay-whisky character. Several reviewers note the smoke takes over; let it breathe and sherry-cask sweetness emerges. Polarizing: a few love the Guyana-meets-Islay clash, others just want their classic Demerara.

How does Rum Nation Diamond Small Batch Rare Rums 2005 taste?
Aggregated from 14 community reviews.
Heavily peated, ashy Guyana for whisky drinkers Genuinely divisive. Smoke and peat dominate, with chocolate and dried fruit underneath. Whisky-cask fans find it gripping; classic Demerara lovers feel the peat buries the rum.

Guyana meets Islay. Abartig, aber irgendwie auch geil.

Whiskey finishes hardly ever make real sense in rum in my eyes - unfortunately, I can't shake that feeling here either. While the smokiness can certainly be said to have a complementary effect, for me as a lover of the classic Guyana profile with heavy sweetness, dark fruits and dense aromatics, these flavors are simply not needed. In the end, however, everyone may decide for themselves, it does not really pick me up.

19. 01.2019 A nice evening with colleagues from all over Denmark. Notes. Medium dark colour. Nose: fresh, wood, light caramel, roasted, earthy, dried fruit. Palate: oily, wood, roasted, licorice, light smoke, chocolate, dried fruit. Finish: medium to long, wood, smoke, chocolate, raisin.
