Rum Nation Diamond Small Batch Rare Rums 2005
Ashtray smoke, tobacco and dark chocolate hit first — this Diamond drinks like "Guyana meets Islay," as one member put it. The peated-whisky influence is loud, and that's the whole fight here: give it plenty of air and sherry, dried fruit and maple creep in underneath. Fans of smoky Scotch find it fascinating; classic-Guyana drinkers wish the smoke would step aside.

How does Rum Nation Diamond Small Batch Rare Rums 2005 taste?
Aggregated from 14 community reviews.
Smoky, peaty Guyana for Islay whisky drinkers Deeply divisive. The Islay-cask smoke either intrigues you or wrecks the Demerara profile — even the fans admit it's not for everyone, and several wanted less char.

Guyana meets Islay. Abartig, aber irgendwie auch geil.

Whiskey finishes hardly ever make real sense in rum in my eyes - unfortunately, I can't shake that feeling here either. While the smokiness can certainly be said to have a complementary effect, for me as a lover of the classic Guyana profile with heavy sweetness, dark fruits and dense aromatics, these flavors are simply not needed. In the end, however, everyone may decide for themselves, it does not really pick me up.

19. 01.2019 A nice evening with colleagues from all over Denmark. Notes. Medium dark colour. Nose: fresh, wood, light caramel, roasted, earthy, dried fruit. Palate: oily, wood, roasted, licorice, light smoke, chocolate, dried fruit. Finish: medium to long, wood, smoke, chocolate, raisin.
