This one is lighter and most delicate of the 2004, 2005 and 2007 Exceptional casks. A very nice rum from the nose through the palate right onto the finish. A lot of orange throughout. A slightly dry rum slightly sweeter than the other two. Really smooth and complex bottle that is already hard to find.

Nez puissant de vernis au départ, puis à l’oxydation vient se greffer un arôme de whisky/bourbon. Impossible au nez de dire que c’est un rhum !! La bouche est forte en alcool pour laisser la place à une belle complexité, finale sur la banane flambée peut-être… Très bon mais pour amateur de sensations fortes !

This Foursquare stands out clearly from its successors. The nose bears an uncanny resemblance to an old Enmore, with a slightly old-fashioned spirit, marked but dry fruit, leather, tobacco, spices, varnished wood, cocoa and coffee, all rounded out with caramel and marzipan. There's a sort of aromatic grassiness that recalls some Versailles. It's a real change from the more classic Foursquare nose. The attack is smooth, balanced with spice, wood, tobacco and toast on one side, and fruit and caramel notes on the other, all wrapped in a layer of bourbon that amplifies the greediness. There's also a certain freshness reminiscent of aromatic herbs, as on Enmore distilled in Pot Still. The alcohol is well integrated. The finish is warm, spicy and toasty. There are hints of dried fruit, chocolate, hazelnut, gourmet wood, caramel and toffee, as well as notes of fresh tobacco. The finish is subtle and elegant. A rather whimsical Foursquare that's off the beaten track, both olfactory and palate-wise, which is very appreciable for a distillery often characterized as one-dimensional.

Un rhum goûté au festival du rhum de Lucerne. Raisins au rhum au premier nez, banane, végétal, orange sanguine et un petit vernis. La bouche est très équilibrée, la texture est souple, pâtissière. Le haut du palais est surtout stimulé. La finale est longue. Le verre vide sent la noix de coco et le bois fumé. Une cabane au bord de la plage, une nuit paisible.

Gets me a subjective sympathy point in addition, because the high-percentage Foursquare profile at the time was definitely something new, which has caused enthusiasm. But also regardless of that, an excellent representative of the typical Foursquare profile.

L'un de mes premiers rums et mon premier Foursquare à l'époque. Sans lui peut-être que je ne serais pas autant tombé dedans. À l'époque le prix était incroyable et accessible pour le jeune étudiant que j'étais. C'est une préoccupation que j'ai moins aujourd'hui mais pour ceux qui arrivent dans le monde du rum c'est important d'avoir accès à d'excellents rums à un prix raisonnable.

První ročníkovka ze série exceptional cask series od foursquare. Vůně jde do sladka, plná čokolády, marcipánu a karamelu. V chuti se jedná o krásně kulatý rum s pomerančovými tóny, integrovaným alkoholem a krásným závěrem. Moc hezké.
