Duncan Taylor Uitvlugt (Port Mourant) Single Cask Rum 1989
Thick, oily and dark, this Port Mourant pours on dry wood, anise and licorice with plums and dried fruit underneath. One taster nosed Guyana but tasted "an old low-ester Jamaican" on the palate. Twenty-three years in the cask gives it leather, tobacco and a very long, lightly peppery finish. Spice, herbs and a faint caramel sweetness round it off.
- Oily, viscous body
- Deep licorice/anise
- Very long finish

Dreamlike Port Mourant! Intense, complex, delicious...
Review by Jakob
Very round, balanced profile - a pleasant blend of tropical fruits, wood, spices and a little caramel sweetness. For me, this is one of the best representatives of the 1989 Uitvlugts.
