NY High Ester blind tasting with JNY20, JNY19, JNY15, JNE16, and TWJ 2009. At first, a very restrained nose that becomes noticeably more intense over time. On the palate, oily/creamy with a perfumed start, which clearly sets this bottling apart from the others for me. Ranked right at the top.

Basically another nice and very good New Yarmouth from 2005. Unfortunately tasted together with the S.b.s New Yarmouth 2005. Compared to that, it unfortunately doesn't stand a chance. Feels a bit thin in comparison. But overall a great drop.

Nice funky nose with lots of tropical fruits and some cookie dough on the nose. However not quite as vibrant as some 09ers I had recently. Same marker on the palate. Nice profile which ticks all the NY boxes.

A nose of glue and varnish, dominated by fresh fruit. On the palate, the opposite is true, with fruit dominating over varnish and solvents. The finish is rather short and a little acqueous. In the empty glass, peppery and spicy notes emerge, previously absent.

Nicely balanced NY05. Tropical fruits (primarily mango and pineapple) and varnish/glue dominate this rum as expected. Lovely buttery notes that turn into cookie dough. Alcohol? – really perfectly integrated!

A pretty New Yarmouth which, as often with the 2005 vintage, combines intensity and subtlety brilliantly. The nose is hyper intense, very funky on esters, glue and solvents, but also presents a very buttery, pastry-like facet marked by almond and marzipan. The fruitiness is very noticeable, especially the well-ripened exotic yellow fruits. A rich, fatty and generous nose. The attack on the palate is intense with a beautiful yellow and exotic fruitiness (pineapple, banana, mango) and a marked funk on glue, esters and varnish. You also perceive the sweetness with almond and pastry butter. It's a somewhat raw profile but it fades quite quickly on the palate, like an unfinished sensation in the mouth (maybe the dilution has something to do with it). The alcohol is very well integrated. The finish is medium length, dry, bitter, tannic and not as marked as the nose and palate. Slightly more woody, the profile gains roundness with its notes of butter and biscuit dough, yet the fruits and funk are still well marked (glue, esters, varnish). A very drinkable New Yarmouth that lacks a bit of length to reach the heights.

On the nose: Esters and glue notes dominate the nose profile. After sitting in the glass for a good 30 minutes you get almond notes, somekind of pastry notes and maybe yellow fruits in the background. Taste: I get sweetness up front from pastry note. Then you get esters, glue notes and solvents. Fruity notes come in the end and they are a little bit sour. Easy and approachable on intensity level. Good integration of alcohol. Finish:Esters and glue notes. Little bit of citrus notes. Acidic Give this rum some time in the glass and it will open up. Leaning more towards pastry notes and glue notes while fruity are more in the background. I think its good, but doesn't really stand out. The finish could have been better. Since i don't have much experience on New Yarmouth rums, the reseach continues.

NY as expected... everything is there: pastry, almond, glue, solvent, pineapple, tropical fruit, butter. Maybe a bit sour. I don't understand the reduction to 55%... I would prefer it with a bit more ABV. Maybe it was a bit too biting and they tried to mask it with the reduction. Still great, I love this profile.

Nose is heavy on solvents, glue and butter dough. The palate gets overtaken by fresh fruits and the solvents take a backseat. Finish is rather short but Inlike the overall development, enjoyable dram.

Small 2005 New Yarmouth Cross Tasting - November 2025: Very fruity nose, with pineapple and banana, paired with glue, almond and cookie dough. Pleasant acidity on the palate, but somewhat too short finish and overall a bit thin. That made it the weakest 2005 today.

Little sample for Friday 🔥🥃 CDI New Yarmouth 2005 – 55% Here we go for something very, very serious. A New Yarmouth distilled in 2005, 12 years in cask (JNY19), bottled by CDI in 2017... and you can feel it from the very first nose. 💥 On the nose: it’s a punch. Resin, acidity, ultra-ripe fruits... almost too much. Then come glue, caramel, vanilla. It’s dense, concentrated, extreme. Clearly not here to be delicate. 💥 On the palate: we stay in this raw intensity. A frank attack, a heavier profile, less charming than the nose. Herbal, medicinal... it shakes you. 🔥 The finish: endless, disconcerting, empyreumatic, overly spicy. A real sensory experience. 👉 Verdict: a monster. Not for timid palates. Personally, big crush on the nose... but the palate speaks less to me. And in 2005? Sorry, but for me it remains behind the SBS 67.2% 😏

Nice light nose, marked by esters, glue, butter, ripe pineapple. On the palate nice ripe fruity notes, interwoven with light peppery, woody and ester-heavy notes. Unfortunately, the finish is very short. Personally, it lacks a certain punch and for me is a bit too diluted. Still tasty and very approachable.
