CDI New Yarmouth Jamaica 2005

Made for people already into Jamaican high-ester rum: this New Yarmouth 2005 leads with glue, solvent and varnish on the nose, then flips on the palate to ripe mango, pineapple and cookie dough. Several tasters call it fruity and easy to drink, with the alcohol well tucked in at 55%. The recurring gripe is a short, slightly watery finish and a body some find a touch thin.

The community says
  • Ripe tropical fruit
  • Classic ester funk
  • But: Short finish

Insgesamt sehr einladend. Am Gaumen finden sich die Aromen wieder. Alkohol gut eingebunden.

Nose is heavy on solvents, glue and butter dough. The palate gets overtaken by fresh fruits and the solvents take a backseat. Finish is rather short but Inlike the overall development, enjoyable dram.

A nose of glue and varnish, dominated by fresh fruit. On the palate, the opposite is true, with fruit dominating over varnish and solvents. The finish is rather short and a little acqueous. In the empty glass, peppery and spicy notes emerge, previously absent.

NY wie man ihn erwartet … alles da: Gebäck, Mandel, Klebstoff, Lösungsmittel, Ananas, Tropische Frucht, Butter. Evtl. etwas sauer.

Nice funky nose with lots of tropical fruits and some cookie dough on the nose. However not quite as vibrant as some 09ers I had recently. Same marker on the palate. Nice profile which ticks all the NY boxes.

New Yarmouth

Avg Rating 8.7/10 95 Rums

New Yarmouth is Jamaican rum's best-kept secret. There are almost no photos of it, it makes Wray & Nephew White, the island's best-selling rum, and it is one of only three distilleries that can reach the highest esters. Collectors only really discovered it through aged 1994 vintages, which have become some of the most surprising rums on RumX.
