Worthy Park Special Cask Release #5 Port 2008
Ripe banana, raisin and dark plum up front, with a port-driven layer of dried fruit and tobacco that several tasters call well integrated rather than overpowering. There's Worthy Park funk underneath and a faintly bitter, woody finish. A few prefer the unfinished WP, finding the red-wine note a touch heavy, but most enjoy the depth this 56% pot-still version brings.
- Well-integrated port
- Banana and plum
- Oily texture

How does Worthy Park Special Cask Release #5 Port 2008 taste?
Aggregated from 34 community reviews.
Funky Worthy Park with a port-fruit twist Most rate it a rich, fruity Worthy Park where the port finish adds plums and tobacco without burying the funk. The catch: it turns dry and bitter-woody late, which not everyone wants.

Overall a great port finished rum that’s rich, fruity, round and balanced that not loses its Jamaican funky profile. Bought me two bottles of this Special Cask Release from Worthy Park during the last Rum Cruise with Birka Cruises in the Baltic Sea. I choose this one cause I heard it was the best one in the first batch Special Cask Release released in 2018. It’s distilled in pot still back in 2008 whereafter it was aged for 9 years in ex-bourbon casks. Thereafter it was transferred to 1423 in Denmark where it was finished during one year in a former Port Cask before being bottled at ABV 56% in just 585 bottles.

Very cool Worthy Park! Powerfull, delicious, Funky with cool Cherry notes 🤤 The port barrel is noted, but it isn’t overwhelming! I like it a lot, especially the mix of various fruits. The alcohol is integrated well and give it a nice depth.

On the nose, there's no doubt that we're in Jamaica, with its ripe bananas. Other exotic fruits (coconut, etc.) are present, as well as minty freshness and vanilla. Unfortunately, I don't like the red wine notes that emerge. It's too heavy for my taste. On the palate, the attack is frank and pleasant. Less tropical fruit, more candied fruit and oranges. But there's still that Jamaican funkiness. There's a lot of texture on the palate, it's oily. The finish is rather successful, with a nice woody aftertaste, banana and plums. The palate inspired me more than the nose, but that's not to my taste for sure. I clearly preferred the unfinished versions from WP to this Porto finish.
