Made for people already deep into old agricole who want a mature, layered Martinique rum. Distilled in 1960 at Distillerie du Simon, it noses like ancient oak, vanilla, dried figs, leather, coffee and confectionery sweetness. Tasters call it "extremely round" and elegant. The one recurring catch: at 45% the palate can read a touch watery and the finish shorter than the nose promises.

Dove back into a retaste of this one and it's still a very good release. Despite the steep price of 1300, - euro I decided to buy this bottle and opened it for a taste after it arrived yesterday. Wow, this is a great rum, though expensive I must say it's almost a perfect rum.

One of the most mythical and elaborate of all agricultural rums. The nose begins with a micro-pot of solvents, before letting exotic fruits take the lead, followed by sweet notes (toffee, candied notes) and then letting a rather woody, dark and spicy profile establish itself with elegance, finesse and intensity, while leaving the fruitiness (red fruits, dried fruits) present at times. This framework is repeated on the palate with great complexity and subtlety. Oily, creamy, intense, very round and elegant, with notes of chocolate, leather, licorice, coffee, cinnamon and vanilla, and a hint of exotic fruit. The interminable finish continues the dark profile, with notes of tobacco and hazelnut. A legendary and excellent rum.

A really nice old Agricole that surprised me very positively since I'm usually not such an Agricole fanboy. Despite the low ABV, it's fun, only the finish is a bit too short for me.

Christiansen's Pub Hamburg December 2025. There it is, the highlight of the evening. Really awesome Agricole, but a seriously strong one. For the price here in the pub, you can really treat yourself to this. Really good.

I've been looking forward to this rum for a long time.... splits are rare, so it's even better that I finally managed to get a few cl. An insanely good stuff. Outstanding and complex. Simply awesome.

Er... Too short in the mouth. Lots of flavor, explosive in the mouth but falls right back and no length. A hint of sweet licorice lingers on the palate.

First impression on the nose: extremely round, you can really tell the long aging, lots of sweet notes like grape sugar, confectionery, dried fig, a pleasant freshness, toasty notes, licorice, leather, dried herbs... wonderful!! On the palate, quite a lot of barrel, tannins, dry, unfortunately also a bit watery. The finish is not particularly long. A somewhat mixed impression. On the nose, absolutely fantastic, but on the palate it doesn't quite keep up.

Phenomenal! This is what an elegant rum with a proud age smells like. Intense vanilla, agricole, very old cask, nut, chocolate, concentrated candy melt and delicate dried fruit. A little roastier in the mouth (coffee), otherwise very similar. Awesome! Very long finish. Very high price of course, rather low ABV, but an exquisite rum that you don't often find.

Outstanding aroma. Great maturity and complexity! Creamy and intense on the palate despite the 45%. However, the length of the finish is somewhat lacking for even more points. Nevertheless, a real treat!

The nose is somewhat woody with coffee, vanilla, tobacco, and a touch of roasted and tropical fruit. The palate is spicy with cinnamon/garf/nutmeg, but also with dried fruits (dates/plums) and slightly woody with leather and tobacco, it also has a sweet and caramel note, I feel it very smooth and silky, it lacks a bit of depth, I would have preferred a higher abv and more woodiness (unfortunately, I don't like cinnamon and clove as spices in general and find them too dominant) The rating fluctuates between 8.4 and 8.7 (objectively it is a 9+ in its category)

a very old french Lady. And she is up to the promises of her youth. Now, matured, very elegant and very balanced. But she offers all the experiences of a long maturation. Wide range of floral and herbal flavors on the nose while the wooden notes dominate the palate. Subtle but perfect sweetness and a long long finish. A great night. Personally I am more into the intense, naughty, fat Guyana rums but this one is beautiful.

I chose this rum as my 2000th sample. And I didn't choose badly. A complex nose, where you can tell it’s been aged a long time, with fruit, tea, and candied sweets. The taste is oily, full of nicely integrated wood, chocolate, leather, coffee, but also exotic fruit. A beautiful and legendary piece.

Tasted during the final of World Cup 2022 soccer ... because or thanks to a certain Kylian I missed a little of this rum! I think it's good, the smell of the glass spilled on my jeans was completely unbelievable the next day.

For me, HSE 1960 is, alongside Bally 1970 & 1975 and Trois Rivières 1980, one of the absolute best old bottlings from Martinique (although I haven't been able to taste nearly everything yet).

I tasted this side‑by‑side with Armada. The nose also delivers milky notes and rich wood character, and the overall quality remains exceptionally high. That said, it is slightly less refined compared with Armada. My friend noted exquisite ruby‑red fruit flavours before proper aeration, yet I did not pick them up

One of the best very old agricoles on the market, a rich and elegant color, in a bottle that doesn't overdo it but remains very imposing and elegant. You find an almost tar-like aspect, great intensity and an elegance characteristic of Martinique with a very long finish.
