Very beautiful and incredibly unusual number here from El Salvador by Cihuatan. Both almost as smoky as young whisky and as floral and fruity as an agricole, yet a nice, creamy sweetness reminiscent of dulce de leche that ties everything together. If it had a few % more it would be gigantic... mega complex for that! Green apple, hazelnut, chamomile, salted caramel, cream toffee, smoky barrel, pepper etc... this one can do something!

El Salvador - Licorera Cihuatan Compagnie des Indes Distilled: 02.2007 Bottled: 11.2018 Aged 11 Years* 43% Cask A46 Bottle No. 314 of 415 Molasses Rum * label states 9 years Color: pale gold Smell: floral and fruity, mild and sweet. Smells of hay and sugarcane. Taste: watery, sweet, mild, green and unripe. Grassy with hay, slightly spicy (pepper, cloves). Some wood. Finish: dry, spicy and woody with herbs and hay. Slightly bitter aftertaste. Conclusion: Relatively nondescript and unconvincing. Average rum. 79 points
