An incredible array of aromas and high complexity. Beautiful sticky and fruity notes on the nose. Lots of spices, wood and even citrusy hints of lemon or orange peel. Very powerful and spicy on the palate. Something dry and woody follows. Then the aromas from the nose with tropical fruits and some honey. In addition to the impressive complexity, the warming 62.5% vol. is also well integrated. The long finish adds an interesting mineral component alongside the spiciness. Honey, liquorice and woody notes finish everything off nicely. I hardly need to mention that the term "funkiness" extends from the nose to the finish. Fantastic bottling - just Long Pond Velier. Thanks to mentalo for the sample.

The tropically aged Long Ponds simply have a great flavor profile that I enjoy very much: fruit esters meets wood and an always discreetly present sweetness. This bottling also joins the high quality ranks of Velier bottlings from Long Pond seamlessly. In direct comparison with the 2010 release, it is clearly more powerful, but also more aromatically present - which is not least due to the additional volume percentages. Both play far in front.

super tasty Long Pond! Mango, banana, pineapple, sour raisins, sour tangerine, maple syrup, roasted almonds with sea salt, relatively bitter, tannin-accentuated with a pleasant, astringent fruit acidity. Surprisingly harmonious to drink, for me personally just a little too bitter overall, but really a nice fruitiness and hardly any meaty notes compared to the 18y 2005 and the 12y 2010. But the 18y is clearly even better!

02.05.2024 Retasting and I still love this release a lot. Once rested it releases a wide array of flavours. Would have love more of these bottles in the shelf but unfortunately hard to find or very expensive. --------------- This is a unique and well balanced rum with intensity. Close to the perfect rum!

Very nice bottling just as the other NRJ Cambridge bottlings. Intense with lots of funk yet nicely aged in tropical climate. Compared to the 2010 12y, the 2005‘s esters are less pungent and chemicals forward but leaning slightly more towards fruits. Compared to the recent 2005 18y bottling, this is more vibrant with more funk.

#10 RumXHighE(a)ster weeks: Blind tasting: Jamaica i think i already had this in glass, maybe from clarendon 20+ years of aging approx. 60% Mid ester My prediction the RA clarendon EMB. Result: Very harmonious, good balanced, round Long Pond. Pleasant to drink with 550/700 hlpa of ester. I see this one between the TECC and the vale royal vrw.

Unfamiliar to me, I have a feeling.Nose:Nutty, caramel, chocolate, tobacco, deep roasted aromas, tropical fruitMouth:Fruity, fresh, a bit tangy, spicyFinish:Peach, mirabelle plum, apple, chocolate, brown sugar, get. ApricotsFirst thought on the nose was Guyana, but the peach on the finish didn't suit me.Would have said 55-58%, relatively low esters, around 10 years.Thought of a Worthy Park. Very complex nose that constantly releases new aromas. Over time, notes of esters, tropical fruits and solvents become more dominant. This is also reflected in the taste, although the solvent notes are more in the background (which I find positive). Edit: I still really like it. A mixture of high ester markers and foursquare on the nose.

In direct comparison with the 2010 for me slightly weaker, because edgier and more alcoholic like the 2010. Nevertheless, a very good Long Pond.

Insanely delicious ... In direct comparison with the 2010 STCE from NRJ, this one is a tick behind for me - however, I tasted the 2010 when opening the bottle and this one from the sample of an already opened bottle. That means I probably need two new bottles to find out the ultimate favorite of one of my favorite brands. Update: tasted from the freshly opened bottle, corrected upwards again. Really delicious.

Incredibly delicious profile! Tropical fruit, glue, wood, sweetness, and everything perfectly balanced. I absolutely have to taste a direct comparison with the 2010 and the 18-year-old 2005. So, finally tasted all three Cambridge wines together today. More funky and fruity than the 18-year-old 2005 Cambridge. Riper and more complex than the 2010 Cambridge. The profile of the 13-year-old 2005 is somewhere in between. Can't decide between the two 2005 Cambridge...

Franconian Tasting Gang on 19.04.2024 In the next unequal battle, two STC♡E of TWJ2015 and the top dog Cambridge 2005 (13yr) compete. Unfortunately, there is a clear difference in color, taste and intensity. The clear winner is, of course, the Cambridge.

More NRJ tasting. We attack the first Cambridge in the series. 👃 On opening, a pretty pastry note of marzipan, vanilla icing and cinnamon cookie dough. Then, esters invite themselves to the party in the form of glue/varnish and very ripe fruit (fermented banana, mango, starfruit, pineapple, maracuja, sour citrus). A little brine, scattered notes of weed, Nepalese salt and chilli. I love these Long Pond full tropical, intense and generous. 😋 Lots of lively, fruity esters. It's very ripe in there (guava, passion fruit, pineapple, banana, acerola...). Right after the overripe fruit comes the spicy kick that amplifies the flavors all the way to the tip of the tongue, the walls of the mouth. In the background, a double combination of vanilla wood and salted almonds. A full, heavy and astringent mouthfeel. ⛳ Extremely long, hyper-salty, almost marine. Powerful esters to the very end, lots of tropical wood, big, warm, salty licorice, you could almost taste the distillation apparatus. Funk all the way. 💡My favorite of the first 3 NRJs, we'll be attacking the TECAs soon.

Second tasting with the 2010 STCE in the other glass. Still a top rum. The 2010 is slightly ahead for me because it seems more differentiated on the nose and palate. Blind tasted E(a)sterweeks 2022 - Day 10Nose unusual and powerful, mango and resin strikes me particularly next to vanilla, esters and bourbon barrel.On the palate a medicinal note and herbs. The alcohol is clearly noticeable.The finish is long and warming and mainly determined by barrel and spice.A fat rum that can entertain the whole evening and is very complex and multilayered.

SPOILER: I’m sooo biased with Long Ponds! Delicious.. all the tropical fruits (pineapple, banana, papaya) wood, sweet caramel and a buttery flavor in the background. On the palate, is astringent, warm and amazing: salted caramel, spices, vanilla and that typical- yet, non overwhelming- meaty note for LPs. Finish is warm, salty, woody and very long. I truly love this NJR bottlings!

A very concentrated rum. True to the spirit of Long Pond and Cambridge, there is a strong concentration of glue and ester, before the typical pineapple and banana notes emerge, albeit rather timidly. A pastry touch appears with notes of brioche and marzipan, before giving way to a hint of spice and vanilla. Although the mark is not the highest, we have here a rather funky profile, intense but delicate.The attack in mouth is lively and powerful. The aromatic concentration brings out the overripe exotic fruits with uncontained acidity, phenol flavors with esters, glue, solvents, medicinal and fermented notes. Tannins dry out the palate, while a touch of wood, spice and saltiness comes through on the mid- to late-palate. The profile is full-bodied, heavy and astringent, but remains very smooth and round for the alcohol level. The finish is equally expressive with tannins, salty, warmly spicy and woody aromas that accompany the medicinal and phenolic notes. The rum sticks to the teeth. A very nice rum, the flavors are very concentrated and a certain harmony emerges from this very specialized profile. Compared to the Cambridge 2010 of the same series, it is perhaps a little less accessible and a little more alcoholic, but remains a safe bet in Jamaican rum.

the Vale Royal dug out again for the comparison. ABV and maturity concerning almost identical, but the Cambridge has a significantly higher ester content. The Cambridge seems a bit more fruity and floral (violet) on the nose, which I like better. On the palate, I find the Vale Royal again better, more balanced and with more spicy-roasty notes. The Cambridge has more spiciness and there are more salty notes on the finish. In total, a draw 🤷♂️

This one is delicious, compared to 2010 the additional aging is felt through wood influence, with its spiciness. I think it hits a sweet spot in terms of age, it's powerful and complex while still retaining vigorous sweet and sourness.

Tasting date 08.08.2026 at Mr. M Nørregaards residence, together with Mr. K Sørensen and Mr. P Chihan. RX416 Cambridge STC❤️E 2005 1 th. tasting 2 cl. 89 points. 2 th. Tasting “enough” Nose: First hit are varnish & glue. Classical Cambridge nose, followed by tropical yellow fruits, most pineapple and banana, some bitter clementines, spiced fruit cake. Marcipan, spiced wood. Mouth: Complex and harmonious cocktail of spices, bitter fruits, glue and wood, ending up with balanced sweetness. Residual taste is almost perfect to me, despite the bitterness. Overwhelming cocktail of spices, fruity sweetness. intensely at all levels. The glass: Bitter oak, tobacco. Tasting “At Mr. M Nørregaards residence”

Day 10 in the RumX-Ester calendar, blind.The nose is directly fun, here is a not quite high-est rum waiting to be enjoyed. Spontaneously I would guess Hampden, as the Jamaican fruit basket rises to the nose. Maybe a <>H? Possibly some more esters as well. Then a bit of a surprise on the palate: very complex, fruity, but there's more than just the Hampden funk, maybe some chocolate and a citrus, is that grapefruit? My tip goes to Long Pond, so right.Great bottling and once again classy selected for the calendar! Here times something moderate funk, but very pleasant and not at all boring, could smell it for hours. Too bad that the sample is so small. But still tastes long after, so you still have a bit longer of it!

Great Long Pond here. Lots of esters and glue on the nose, but tropical fruits are of course also recognizable. Lots of esters and tropical fruits such as pineapple and banana on the palate. Very tasty.

This is among the best Long Pond I have tasted. Nose of glue, ester, tropical fruits, vanilla and wood. Palate of ester, spice, wood and leather. Long finish dominated by glue, wood and leather.

Tried the 13-year-old again in direct comparison to the 18-year-old. Both are great STCE, both very similar. I see the younger one as slightly ahead. It has a little more edge, a little more intensity.

Stronger on the nose than on the palate. Tropical fruit mix, citrus notes and a dash of ester. The finish adds salty mineral notes. I'm afraid there's a bit of a lack of complexity here.

On the nose: Glue, esters and tropical fruits. Under that there is solvents, sweetness from the marzipan. From the body you can tell that this is aged, but there is some nice fruityness in there. Taste: Esters and overripe pineapples at first. Oak notes with spices. Then you get some sweetness notes from maybe confection noted. Complex and balanced with good integrated of alcohol. Finish: Warm and woody. Light fruity notes. Little bit of creamy, little bit of dry and mineral mouthfeel. Absolutely loved this rum. If i was to compare this to the 18 years old, this one has more fruity and brighter notes and this one had more complex finish. This rum is absolute recommend!

Admittedly, I'm not a fan of estrous rums, this is the upper edge for me. Very, very good and complex nose, an herb garden in the mouth. Very interesting, you have to deal with it longer. Craft absolutely top, very transparent description. But my favorite of the series remains the Vale Royal.

Long Pond Tasting: Delicious Long Pond for me, the biggest minus with this rum is the alcohol integration which is not entirely perfect. Nevertheless, for me on the same level as the VRW. Aftertaste +1 compared to the VRW.

Excellent rum, a Long Pond reference for me. Glue for models at full nose that leaves a little room for caramel. All in crescendo. Round, gourmet attack that "dries" quickly on fruits with the complexity of the cask. Long and pleasant finish that keeps rising. New tasting: 8.7 > 8.9

Complex Jamaican bomb, perfect aroma. Tropical fruits (pineapple, banana) are present as well as esters or glue, plus a bit of marzipan or spices. If you manage to get at least a sample, definitely try it.

What a slap that this magnificent cambridge. If you find the mbs too light or the tecc and teca too heavy this one is going to fill you.Even without airing it it will propose you a beautiful greediness but by airing it about ten minutes it will reveal itself even more greedy, powerful and subtle. A beautiful matter in mouth neither too dry nor too syrupy.A superb length.A must have which has my taste holds the very high dragée with jamaicans or trinidad of prestige.
