"Eher als Mixer gedacht" is how one member sums it up, and that fits. Light Puerto Rican column rum: vanilla, brown sugar and a little young wood, with a flash of nail polish on the nose and banana behind it. Thin and mild on the palate, a bit watery, and a short finish. Several tasters found it much easier with cola than in a glass.

Tasting Artur's Puerto Rico rums. Plum and citrus on the nose. An almost pleasant entry with sweet fruit and light wood. Then a toasty edge that's a little odd and offbeat. The finish isn't so short, with some fruit extending it a little. Sweetness, vanilla and well-integrated wood.

06.12.2024 The liquid History of Puerto Rico Tasting First of all, many thanks to Artur for the extreme effort and for sharing such old rums at all. The rums themselves were not really spectacular except for a few exceptions, BUT I still really enjoyed it because you just don't get to taste such rums as a normal mortal anymore and all the background knowledge that Artur shared I find insanely interesting. I really tip my hat to that. Big respect!

The liquid History of Puerto Rico Tasting No. 11 - better than its predecessor, but still watery. Slightly stronger barrel flavors than its peers. Like many in the series, much more tolerable with cola.

Arturs Puerto Rico Tasting, thanks for the great overview and history :-) A series of DonQs changing over the decades, starting from the 50s compared to the current release. Surprisingly, the newest is also the best, clearly fruitier and more intense at a good price. Exciting!

Puerto Rico Set Nr. 11: Similar notes as in the other DonQs so far: caramel, vanilla and some wood. In this one, however, I also get a sensation of fresh dough - Which is a bit strange. Smooth and soft on the palate. Nothing new here. Not to bad overall. Cheers to Artur for curating this set!

Clearly spicier than the predecessors, a bit saltier, darker and more roasted. Almost burnt. Honestly, compared to the others, Don Q is the weakest for me. Just seems a bit unbalanced in comparison.

Tasted 06-05-2017 This for me shows of the column still aged rum but not very well . As a sipper don't bother but can come alive in cocktails, I find the don q range is rather ignored
