Hamilton Saint Lucia Pot Still 2005
Funk-chasers who think they've got Jamaica figured out should taste this blind — several members swore it was Hampden or Worthy Park before learning it's Saint Lucia. Expect tropical overripe fruit, varnish and nail polish on the nose, then bubblegum, cherry cola, mint and a medicinal edge. At 67.4% it needs water and time; one reviewer let it sit two hours and called it a different rum.
- Big tropical funk
- Bubblegum and mint
- Complex, develops slowly

How does Hamilton Saint Lucia Pot Still 2005 taste?
Aggregated from 24 community reviews.
Fierce, funky St. Lucia pot-still bomb A fierce, funky pot-still bomb people compare to big Jamaicans and even Caroni. Loved for its wild fruit-and-petrol character — but it's hot, bitter and needs patience to open up.

The funny calendar day 19 I'm actually glad I wasn't able to try it yesterday. Thanks to the tip to put it in a glass for a while, I was able to really enjoy it. My recommendation: Pour it, forget about it and taste it after about 1 1/2-2 hours. It has developed into a real grenade. For me, by far the best from the calendar so far. And my new favorite from St. Lucia

Tasted it blind, thought it was something Jamaican (WP or Hampden). Turned out to be this. It's a really great fierce and complex rum. Funk and fruits and a good balance with the cask. AWESOME. Gotta get me one of these...

So far, I've always placed some Jamaicans somewhere else in the funny Advent calendar. This time it's the other way around. Ohh, Jamaica. What, St Lucia? But then in the finish, the medical note, gauze bandages etc.

A real punchy nose, tropical overripe fruit and ethanol vapours. Light spicy mouth with enamel and nail polish notes, funk reminiscent of the big Jamaican funk bombs, finish is long and well balanced. It’s a real bombastic funky rum and while I expected big things it delivers. Worth seeking out if you get the chance!

Nose reminiscent of Foursquare. Nicely spicy, perhaps a hint of fruit, and the alcohol is also perceptible with notes of varnish (but not disturbing) Yo in the mouth then tangy, dry and quite bitter. I imagine some wood. Needs a second and third sip to get the hang of it. The finish is medium long and leaves a bitter, herbal taste on the tongue. Powerful and exciting!
