Most tasters land in the same place: wildly original, and not for every mood. The nose hits like a dirty martini crossed with a smoky BBQ platter — cheese, bacon, brine and olives, the note members jokingly call "Käsefuß" (cheesy feet). The palate turns floral and perfumed, with rose, bergamote and smoke over salty olive. Peated-whisky and mezcal comparisons come up a lot. Love-it-or-hate-it stuff.

Extremely aromatic nose. Interesting mixture of perfume and cheese feet. 😳On the palate, the cheese note disappears and an exciting composition of perfume and smoke appears. Insider tip for 'ne really horny Bloody Mary 🤫

The cheese foot in the nose drowned out for me, unfortunately, the rest...Edit:After I did not like the here in the tasting with Jost he liked me with some distance now much better! Remains that me this Clairin of all the I was allowed to taste so far, but the previous evaluation was probably a bit too harsh... 7 points

Interesting rum... brings an exciting dynamic to shine in cocktails. Quite smoky with a cheese-umami note, really special. Also bacon can be found. Not quite what you want in rum, but worth trying 😊

This is the biggest Haitian stinker I know. And he's absolutely fabulous. Salty meat, olives, fruit and cheese! It's similar in flavour, and there's an Islay whisky spiciness. You can either love this or hate it. I definitely love it, but maybe my friend calls it goat piss 😁

Number 3 from the community tasting. Thanks RumTaTa!At first contact First fierce overcoming. Cheese foot says Chris and hits it on the point. You get used to it and get as far as the Toast Hawaii.The mouth at first similarly brute but quite different: super artificial: soap, shampoo, perfume, coriander, gummy bears. The soap remains, but you can talk it up. In addition, wet cigarette ash, which continues in the finish. Coriander remains as present.believe this is one you can grow into. With bad luck, however, it remains artificial soapy water.

8,3:On the nose, fermented sugarcane with cheese, vegetal with mushrooms, briny olive, sweet with honey, tons of confectionery like pastry, cookie dough, yeast, smoky with bacon, meaty, overripe fruits, perhaps hints of fruit schnapps and walnuts, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, the cane is flowery, herbaceous, the rum is quite intense, spicy, various fruits come out like tropical with banana, red and citrus fruits, the notes are burnt, like burnt sugar, caramelized. 8,1:On the palate, the attack is smoky, burnt with leather, meaty, bacon notes, sugarcane is fermented with briny olive, grassy, vegetal with mushrooms, flowery and herbaceous, soapy, chemical hints arise, when the rum is well oxidized, metallic patina, overripe tropical fruits like banana and pineapple, citrus fruits, dryness and spiciness. 8:The finish is medium long, dry, bitter, soapy, the cane stays flowery, vegetal with briny olive, coriander, we have burnt rubber, smoky bacon, sourdough bread, fruits with citrus and figs. Thanks to RumTaTa.The somewhat washed up unicorn of the Cairins or also affectionately called "cheese foot". In the nose I actually had cheese, school gym in the summer smell and curry.Taste then inhale a load of dry shampoo, chemical, coriander, salt, cheese.Not the tastiest rum, but clearly exceptional and interesting.

wtf?! completely different from the previous Rocher for me. the nose is brutally smoky, almost like smoked bacon & BBQ sauce, lots of tropical fruits, especially banana, plus some cheese, and a full plate of matching fruits such as walnut, apricot, figs and grapes, as well as olives. the taste is then again bacony and smoky but also floral and slightly rose, bergamot, lime peel, fig and a subtle smokiness and saltiness. very very cool! rarely drunk something that tastes so perfumed! Also makes really good rhum martinis!

Can hardly believe this is supposed to be a Clairin. Has nothing to do with being vegetal, floral and green. It was insanely smoky right from the start, both nose and palate, otherwise it is still quite bacon-y and meaty. I like it :)

#6137 27.12.2025 Just send off the wife with a Japanese friend of hers, so now I can enjoy a few rums. Nose Fresh, vegetal, light nutts, fruits, citrus, light olive, banana, light diesel, light grass. Palate Oily, vegetal, light floral, citrus, light grass, polish, fresh, faint anise, olive, light salt, light diesel. Finish Medium long, fresh, oily, light anise, light apricot, banana, light floral. Empty glass Citrus, sugarcane, light floral, light licorice, olive.

Olive, cheese and salt comes first, which is not surprising after previous tastings. Quite balanced in the mouth, some salty-smoky soap comes, that makes more interesting. The finish is pleasant with salty, fruity notes. Not my favourite clairin, but makes any tasting session lively.

A very interesting clairin. Marked olive notes mingle with very ripe fruit, floral and smoky notes. The palate follows on the same note with a hint of earthiness, very supple on the palate. The finish is very pleasantly long, with a hint of salinity. A fine discovery.

These brilliant white rums from Velier can always show you something new. The nose is very exciting with olive, herbs, meaty aromas, smoke, tropical fruits, sugarcane, banana, honey, floral hints, cheese, and bacon. On the palate, it is also very exotic with floral aromas, olive, sugarcane, smoke, fresh, grassy and perfume notes, cheese, bergamot, and geranium. Both palate and nose are accompanied by light esters. The short to medium finish lives from olive, floral aromas, licorice, charred wood, bacon, perfume, roses, and figs. I find this rum very inspiring and interesting. Thanks to @Skyfly for the great sample 😃

Nice smoky, sugar-cane aromas. The second nose is even more animalic, with scents of meat and musk. On the palate, it's distinctive, slightly spicy and smoky, with a lot of licorice in the candy-cachou style, but very dry and not greedy. It's very fresh, and the licorice lingers for a long time on the finish. It's nice but very particular...

One of it’s own rum. Complexed, a lot is going on while drinking it. Very specific aroma of fruity smoked mackerel and olive brine taste keeps You interested. Personally, It is not a rum that I would drink repeatedly because of the meat/peat/bbq/bacon notes. Nevertheless, thats some great rum and I highly reccomend it!
