Nose: slightly biting, spicy, lightly fruity, a bit woody, not super great but also not unpleasant Taste: very spicy, peppery, then a hint of vanilla, some wood, rather dry, subtly fruity, alcoholic but just barely not unpleasant, long finish. Overall, it can't really convince me, but I snagged the bottle super cheap for about 16 euros on vacation in Reunion and it reminds me of a really beautiful time on that dream island. I wouldn't buy it again though... the remaining half bottle suddenly tasted really good to me, lots of vanilla, not so alcoholic anymore, I don't know why, but I jumped from 55 to 80 points and would drink it again and buy it again for the price 🙈

Bought three different Rivière du Mat, produced in Reunion, during my drive down to Spain. This is the third and last I open, a traditionnel Rhum Vieux. Haven’t found out the aging, but I estimate it to around 4 years. Overall a quite good rum that’s definitely better than the Ambre and the Royal Reserve because of its deeper character and longer finish.

#5701 28.09.2025 Day two of the Whisky Live 2025, which this year looks better organized/arranged inside. Retasting and it got a few more points. ---------- This one was really disappointing because I know they can do a lot better. Out of balance in my mind and I'm happy i didn't buy a bottle.

Short trip to Reunion September 2024 Then at least 2 decent rums are needed. Here's the Grande Reserve from Riviere du Mat. Spicy and smoky, as well as some caramel on the nose. On the palate, some vanilla is added to the spice and smoke.

Next up is the Riviere du Mat Grande Reserve from the Advent calendar. Very fruity on the nose. Peach is very dominant here. Also a bit sweeter with fruits on the palate. Drinkable.

24 Days of Rum 2024 - Black Edition - Day 17 First impression: very sweet and complex Nose: unusually pleasant, vanilla, hay, leather, tobacco and at the same time very fresh and young and matured. Impressive Palate: vanilla, matured grasses, wood, tobacco, nicely complex between youth and maturity Finish: medium-short, aromas from nose and palate in a warm extension Overall impression: one of the very few Agricoles that makes me positive. Nice sipper and surely also exciting in fruity mixers.

A good rum. Nose rather interesting but too discreet. A bit of licorice? More straightforward attack than expected. Alcohol well integrated with still a bit of punch. Lots of spices, nice complexity from the cask. Finish a bit short.

Pleasant rum from Reunion island. The aroma is fresh, sweetish with hints of woody and vegetal tones. On the palate it is equally sweet reminiscent of vanilla and tropical fruit. Then it transitions into floral to herbal tones which are framed by a pleasant woodiness. It is very smooth in taste yet expressive in the flavors it offers, which is a big plus. The finish is fruity to almost vanilla-like.

The aroma seems very hidden to me. A bit of fruit, vanilla, and flowers. Taste-wise light, sweet cinnamon, well-aired barrel, spices, fruit, and agricole elements. Finish with agricole tones, vanilla with cinnamon, slight earthiness and dried fruit.

Nose: plastic, tonka bean, and spices can be smelled. Also blond tobacco. Like in the XO. But weaker. Palate: watery, bland, you sense some potential in the aftertaste but overall it's boring. Finish: there isn't really one. It's short. Weak. Not that good. In the "grande réserve" you find the markers I like in the XO. But the levels aren't pushed far enough which takes away a lot of the interest. If you want something very spicy, you go for the XO. I prefer to add 15 euros and get the XO (the step is huge). Or at 40/45 euros I prefer (in other styles) Rum Fire, Clairin Le Rocher (46 euros), Dillon 12 years, or a Neisson Clos Godinot for example.

Better than the XO for sipping just not for rum and coke. Longer more medium finish with sugar and spice alongside vanilla notes. Nose is subtle, a little rubber if you try hard but overall just really light. The mouth is decent a bit of complexity and some more sugar with savoury green pepper notes. Happy to have a glass just not memorable and underpowered with the ABV

Really nice. The sweetness first and then peppery dryness. Destinctly divided. There’s a hint of bergamot peppermint as a sidenote which sets this rum apart.

Coconut, vanilla and perfume. Some apricot. The mixture here is nice and balanced, and this rum is overall pleasant with subtle flavors. Light golden pour. A hint of nail varnish. 24 days of rum calendar day #17.
