Bristol T.D.L Trinidad Rum for Haromex Dev. 2006
Wood leads, with caramel, vanilla and a cool streak of mint running underneath — the mint is the giveaway that this is a Trinidad TDL, though plenty of tasters blind-guessed Panama or a soft Spanish style. A single 2006 cask at 59.8%, and most find the alcohol sits surprisingly well. A couple do call the sweetness too much. One reviewer even caught "dirty Caroni notes" after a long rest.

Edit: RumX Advent Calendar 2024 Bonus 1 I didn't realize it, but due to the long (involuntary) standing time today I had the dirty Caroni notes with me. I still think it's delicious. A nice TDL for me. Just needs a little time in the glass, but then it's very enjoyable. Edit: Tasted it again on 19.09.23, after I had the Swell Private Garden #4 in my glass before. I find this one a lot better. This one has more power and after a while it unfolds its full range.

Hmmm... To sum up, I don't like it... I really don't. I wouldn't have guessed the source. I imagine it comes from somewhere other than T.D.L. Alcoholic, bitter and burnt... These are markers that don't make me dream here...

RumX Advent Calendar, Day 25. A nose of alcohol, wood, vanilla and brown sugar. Added banana and a hint of dried herbs. The palate is pleasant, with a freshness (menthol) that wasn't noticeable on the nose. More fruit too, dried fruit and tropical fruit. The finish is short, though some aromas linger longer: bitter wood and brown sugar. A more complex rum than first appears.
Review by Leo Krüper
Very beautiful, rare TDL with an independent profile. Complex finish with some changes of direction. Good PLV
Review by Dr.Django
I rarely had 2006 T.D.Ls, as well as bottlings from Bristol. These T.D.L. also taste very rare. Blindly, I would have put these more in the Spanish direction. I still like them, but nobody should expect a fruity micro-bomb here. Cask 472/2 is very creamy on the palate and somewhat woody and bitter on the finish, which is not necessarily a bad thing. Cask 472/1, on the other hand, is somewhat more linear and even less exciting.

RumX Advent Calendar 2024 Bonus 1 Also a very good rum here. The nose is predominantly woody, but caramel and chocolate are also recognizable. On the palate also a lot of wood, but also some mint. Alcohol could be better integrated.
Review by Paul Christiaens
Nose: Cherry meets cherry. This is clearly wood-driven, leading to a burst of flavours as Black Forest cake, PX or cream sherry, oak, juicy sultana, peach on syrup, dark sugar and vanilla. The longer it stands, the more the wood is pushed back by notes of tobacco and leather and hazelnut. Taste: sticky and sweet, with a clear glue-like rum mark but plenty of cask effect. Syrup, PX, caramel, grape, leather, prune, tobacco, orange, baking spice, a bit of menthol. Finish: long, more on mocha, nuts, toffee, leather, glue and menthol. 83 points

15.07.2021 Nothing better than meeting people for dinner and rum when you're on holiday. Notes Dark in colour. Nose Intense, wood, light roasted, faint rubber, dried fruit, spice. Palate Warm, wood, roasted, medium dry, plum, spice, faint tar and rubber. Finish Medium to long, wood, roasted, cherry, light chocolate.

RumX Advent Calendar 2024 ... Refurbishment, Door 25 Nice, but doesn't blow me away - but I'm not a TDL fan either. Not so minty (good) with nice caramel notes and some dry fruits. Good sweetness.

RumX Advent Calendar 2024: No. 25 Possibly Bardados today? Very nice rum with woody and fruity influences. Very pleasant sweetness in the finish. Alcohol very well integrated, guess around 60%. Another great selection for the calendar.
Review by Filip Šikula
Very nice T.D.L. In the aroma it gives a sweet profile with mint, which is not quite hit after drinking. There's a bit of that sweetness, but the primary notes are the dirty ones I like. Nice long finish. Rumy-X Advent Calendar Oliver Gerhart 2024

A less intense profile than the TDL 2003 or 2001 that I know better. Woody. Licorice. Clearly less fruity than what I know from this provenance. Light menthol. Average length. Nice.

Day 25 of the RumX advent calendar: Different from what I'm used to from this distillery. There are a few aromas here that can also be found in the vintages from T.D.L that I appreciate, such as the somewhat dirty gum note of the smell and the subtle mint undertone, but otherwise this could also be a Spanish-style rum. Overall, it's still a good drop, but a little too sweet and alcoholic in my mouth.

RumXmas 2024, day 25, bonus For me a rather atypical TDL, I thaught it was something South American in the glas. Alcohol well integrated, sips easily despite the ABV. Vanilla, caramel, spices and roasted wood, Not the markers in the profile that I’ll unusually associate with TDL. I’m not getting any menthol. Enjoyable but not memorable.
Review by alex
Very nice profile, I like it a lot. Like with the RDL, you can feel a bit of menthol but it’s not dominant, so it leaves room for beautiful aromas of caramel, spices... so I really appreciate it 😍 it’s superb.
Review by Righrum
Pretty difficult this one. I'd say an old Demerara due to the caramel notes and the liquorice that in the mouth is really noticeable, while on the nose is mixed with wood and resembles liquorice sticks.
Review by Johannes
A rather one-dimensional TDL with a lot of column. Rather chocolaty Panama notes.
Review by Agricoler
Day 25 RumX Advent Calendar I would guess a TDL or Mount Gay. There is a certain herbal note (possibly mint) and a little banana in the background with some citrus notes. I like it very much overall. An absolutely solid rum that lives from the super bourbon influence.
Review by Mentalo
The biggest problem is the penetrating sweetness, which overshadows other notes. There are definitely notes of vanilla, some mint, berries and also some dirt. I didn't think it was that bad, but as I said, the sweetness really bothered me.

RumX Advent Calendar 2024 Day 25 (Bonus): On the nose I find a nice caramel sweetness and rather fresh wood. On the palate initially also rather Spanish, but not boring, rather nicely rounded. I find light Caroni markers that wonderfully complement the profile. The finish is pleasantly smooth but not very long. A nice, very rounded rum. I guess 55-60%.
Review by crazyforgoodbooze
Rather disappointing for me overall. Blindly thought partly of caroni, then tasted more like Panama. Unusually sweet, alcohol rather poorly integrated overall. For me, it has relatively little to do with a TDL... Too bad.
Review by Martin Spooner
Advent Calendar 2024 blind tasting: relatively inconspicuous on the nose. Lots of nougat and caramel on the palate. Also a relatively sharp note, but this softens after a while in the glass. Delicious thing.
Review by FischeJ
Vanilla, caramel, apricot and raisins on the nose. Also subtle spicy notes. That’s how it actually tastes too. Somehow it reminds me of some Cubans.

Vintage 2006. With 8.2 out of 10 it is a very good bottle, although not the top of my ranking.
Review by Alex1981
RumX Calendar 2024 Bonus 1: Vanilla, coconut, pleasantly sweet. Spiciness is added in the mouth, the vanilla & coconut notes remain. Also very sweet. Finish rather short with spiciness. I'm guessing something in Central America, possibly Panama? Rather disappointing, especially compared to the previous days
Review by Lot-NAS
Quite a decent TDL, molasse, vanilla, some spices and hints of menthol / mint leaves on top. The latter adds a freshness that I really like.
Review by Alexander Rasch
The first impulse was clearly Panama. The mixture of vanilla and orange peel was clear at first. Then it became increasingly fruity and woody with a slight herbal note. But also alcoholic. A very heavy box. At least 60% I would say. Beyond that.... let me think... would guess a young distillate. Since it's very neutral, I can't place it well and would therefore leave it open today. Overall quite tasty but nothing memorable either.

Beautiful matte bottle under 100 euros. You can feel the alcohol, but very drinkable. I recommend it even to beginner rum drinkers to discover new flavors. The mint from TDL is an unmistakable taste that you will never get tired of.
Review by Jakob
Taut blend of barrel notes, caramel, peppery spice, candied fruit and roasted aromas. The palate also has a pleasant nuttiness, but also a somewhat rough alcoholic sharpness. A rum with appealing aromas that only lacks the final balance.
Review by primus
RumX Advent calendar 2024 door number 25: Wood predominates on the nose, along with some caramel and liquorice. On the palate, this rum remains integer with a non-intrusive sweetness, building on the woody and chocolaty notes.
Review by Buddudharma
Village 25 trade fair rating: Nice, but not very recognizable. Focus on caramel, but after a little standing time the rum wins and mint and spices are added. Still only appeals to me to a limited extent.
