Members agree it's real Caroni, they just don't agree on how much punch it packs — at 46% several call it one of the softer, more approachable bottlings from the distillery. The tarry, medicinal, rubber-and-cocoa DNA is all there, rounded out with butterscotch, toffee and a bit of wood. Give it two hours of air; a couple of tasters found it musty on the first pour.

Light Caroni notes! A bit lower ABV. Tasting again: I have to upgrade it from 7.8 points. Nice complexity thanks to the Caroni finish, which you can clearly notice. I really like it. Not too thin despite the low ABV!

All in all, you can say that the Caroni notes are recognizable both on the nose and on the palate. For me, though, one of the weaker Caronis. Somehow I find it a bit flat despite everything. More of an easy sipper beginner Caroni.

A Caroni with different faces. The ABV is certainly on the lower edge and gives away some potential flavors. Nevertheless, a constant sharpness is relatively present in the rum, which bothers me differently depending on the day. Basically, however, Caroni is in it and brings the typical profile on all levels.

Crosstasting 1997 Caronis from continental aging: Typical Caroni profile, HTR notes, wood influence, subtle spices and caramel. Very pleasant to drink, a Caroni where dilution works very well.

This rum was still on the shelves at the beginning of my rum time. Directly after pouring, it feels unpleasantly musty. Let's let it breathe. 2 hours have passed. Mint, menthol, beautiful Caroni notes - plenty of them. Behind that, dried fruits, some spice and wood. Nicely balanced, complex, good strength. Nice mouthfeel. Not overpowering, but not thin either. Now more wood and spices. On the finish, nice spices and caramel. What can you say? Certainly not a superstar, but it has everything we love about Caroni, including a nice 97 profile and complexity. 🥰 And that's not little. 😏

I like the mechanical/ medicinal aspects to a point but there is a note in the finish which I’m not as sure about. Hard to describe.

A very smooth Caroni. The low ABV makes the rum especially accessible on the palate. Lots of sweetness, caramel, wood, and medicinal elements. The Caroni notes are subtle on the nose and palate but fit in nicely. I actually quite like it. Easy sipper with Caroni flavor.
