Raisin, honey and a big scoop of PX sherry sweetness — that's the whole show here, and it's a good one. A soft, mild Barbados Foursquare where the sherry cask does most of the talking: dried fruit, vanilla, a little oak, no color and no added sugar (the sweetness is all cask). You will get a solid rum for beginners. This is probably one of the sweetest (unsweetened) rums i‘ ve ever tried! A really nice sweetly smell of Honey, vanilla, oak, nuts. In mouth the sweet continues where you‘ll find all the tastes from before in addition of some nice cookie dough. But it have a light, soft body, which is a big minus for an experienced drinker? The finish is short to medium long and continues his sweetness with a dominant taste of vanilla and honey.

The PX Cask is my first tasting of a pleasure spirit and alcohol in general, which makes it a reference for the future. At the moment I can't rate it objectively and I agree with the average opinions. Even as a layman you can immediately perceive the sherry influence on the nose and then also taste it. I can confirm the often mentioned suitability for beginners. Despite the above and contrary to first expectations, it was surprisingly mild and the taste convincing.

A pleasantly smooth and sweet rum. Woody, fruity, vanilla, and honey dominate the flavor profile. Although it lacks a bit of depth, it is nicely easy-drinking with a light sherry note in the finish. Great value for money. Clear recommendation.

Nice easy-drinking rum. Very mild. Sweet but not too sweet for my taste. The rum has no coloring and no sugar. Price-performance is top here! For a better rating, the sherry note is now too present for me. Still a good rum.

30.08.2026 Retasting qt the Germen Rum Festival 2026 and a pretty decent bottling. ------------------- This is a very light and close to diluted release. Price to quality is pretty good though. Sweet and fruity with some caramel and spices. Mild and oily on the palate and finish. Draws really nice curtains in the glass and the empty glass has really nice flavours.

Very sweet and lovely, naturally sherry, dried fruits, raisins and a bit of caramel. On the nose also a hint of vanilla. Yeah, just a really great sipper, naturally very sweet but it's a really great introduction to pure rum.

Certainly a good starter rum. Brings a lot of sweetness and fruity sherry notes. Very drinkable. However, the rum is very smothered by the finish. Far too sweet for me personally. No depth at all and a slightly watery mouthfeel. Perhaps a good compromise for people who like it sweet but don't like extra sugar added.

Pleasant aroma of raisins, sherry, and wood. Tastes sweet, fruity like sherry. The Barbados rum comes across mild and unobtrusive. Very smooth on the palate. A sweet spirit drink without added sugar or colorings. Still enormously sweet due to the added sherry. Important: this is not a real rum and only for beginners.

Here the PX is of course front and center, the rum behind it is hardly definable. Considering that Wagemut likes to market itself with the motto no bullshit, a bit ironic. But as a dessert rum, quite tasty.

Wild yeast, but: after all the hype I actually expected more on the nose. Full-on sherry of course and old, full Barbados notes of fruit etc. The sherry here mainly has character and is not a mushy hint of wine like in other PX finishes. Well, the taste. The thing with the 'forgot a bit of sherry in the cask' is of course the ultimate jab at all those sweet rum pans. I like the 'gag' and it works perfectly. Raisin, chocolate, sherry and a very pleasant sweetness. Everything fits together and it's absurdly drinkable. But somehow I personally miss depth and complexity. It just stays 'drinkable', but really good at that. Nice finish after some tastings.

Very mild rum with clearly sweet sherry influences. Really a good deal for 40 euros. For a higher rating, I miss some complexity. Still bought a bottle because it's fun anyway.

For me, it's a bit like the Legendario 7 Elixir "grown up." Similar flavor notes (raisin, some wood, ..) but of course less sweetness (compared to Legendario, still well sweet compared to purebred rums < 20g/L). Woodier on the finish. You can tell the high-quality rum as the base, it comes through well and kicks more than Legi, clearly higher ABV. Exciting combo with ginger beer in a mule, comes through well. Drinks: - Neat: 4.5/5 - Rum Cola: 4/5 - Rum Mule: 4.5/5

My substitute for the Legendario 7 Elixier when I want to introduce friends to rum. On the nose: sherry, raisin, honey, vanilla, and a hint of oak. On the palate: raisin, vanilla, honey, and cinnamon. The finish is medium-length and smooth. Notes of honey and allspice. There will definitely be a follow-up bottle of this.

Thick-walled glass bottle, thin content. A rum that aims to hit the mainstream taste. In the same line as Plantation XO et al. Somewhat watery and basically just sweet but certainly a good "everyman". If you're looking for complexity, this is definitely not it.

A nice rum with a nose that intensely goes into the sherry note. Taste-wise soft and pleasant on the palate. In the finish, you get a slight smoky/toasty flavor. You can taste that the rum was finally aged in sherry casks. I enjoy it at room temperature.

Absolutely hooked me as a beginner and convinced me to get more. Alcohol well integrated. A rare PX where the sherry isn't too much. The rum is still clearly drinkable. Anyone who knows The Origin knows that.

Update after 4 years: Super good entry-level spirit. But after plenty of experience and a shift towards purism, it has to lose a few points because it's now too sweet or the high PX influence doesn't let the spirit come through enough. But still great value for money.

I really enjoy watching Nico's videos, you often see his flagship product and that's why I was super happy when I saw this great bottle in front of me today. In my taste, it's a fine stuff with an incredible flavor breadth. I think this outstanding drop is simply suitable for everyone and belongs in every well-stocked home bar.

Nose: Clear sherry note at the beginning. Complemented by raisins. Otherwise little to detect. Taste: Pleasant mouthfeel. Very beginner-friendly as it is very mild, sweet, and smooth. Prominent notes of sherry. Alongside vanilla and caramel, spicy and woody aromas are noticeable. Finish: Rather short and gentle but also not very spectacular. All in all, a good rum probably primarily intended for beginners.

VERY good entry-level "rum." With just under 29g of sugar per liter (according to Nico in one of his latest videos with Oli), it's officially not rum, but nevertheless very tasty and especially suitable for those who maybe don't want to start with Don Papa or Botucal.

I just can't smell anything in this rum? Maybe it's because supposedly no sugar is added. But it really doesn't taste bad, a rum that probably not everyone knows, and the price-performance ratio definitely fits.

Sweet nose with aromas from honey to syrup. Sharper on the tongue and palate than expected, but without unpleasant burning. Warm, cozy, spicy, and sweet on the finish. Rounded taste and according to information an honest (not sweetened) product.
