What surprises people most is the glue note behind the sweetness — a few tasters catch it right away, then banana, citrus and almond come through. Mostly this is a soft, sugar-forward Spanish-style blend: caramel, vanilla, crème brûlée and tropical fruit at 40%. Several call it an easy entry sipper, a couple find it one-note and too sweet. Short, gentle finish.

Surprisingly much texture for the low alcohol. The aromas nevertheless remain delicate. Sweetness dominates at first, which tips into bitter at the end. Not unbearable, but not good either.

A light nose with a Demerara base, a hint of lemon and a hint of pastry. A light, acqueous, pastry-like palate. Clean and flawless, but a little too sweet. A short finish with vanilla cream. In short, a rum without qualities but pleasant to drink, very conciliatory and good value for money.

Note: Employment at Perola GmbH (spirits industry), partial professional involvement with evaluated bottlings. All reviews are my personal, unpaid opinion. Clearly nuttier, fruitier, and more complex than the Caraibes. Especially due to the addition of 60% Guatemala rum. A very cool sipping entry-level rum at a fair MSRP! I especially like the fruitiness and spice. Surprisingly long finish despite 15g dosage.

01.05.2019 Nice tasting with friends including my slow cooked pot roast. Colour Light in colour. Nose Light, fresh, sweet, faint wood, fruits, light pineapple, light caramel, spice, faint chocolate. Palate Faint wood, light, sweet, fruits, faint honey, light licorice, raisin, light marzipan. Finish Medium long, light wood, light honey, fruits, light citrus, light marzipan, spice. Extra Note. Price to quality is really good in my opinion.

Very classic rum of the Spanish style. Sweet! Caramel! Fruit! Accompanied by spices and roasted aromas. Sweet and mild on the palate, not a complexity monster, but tasty to drink. A bit of spicy sharpness can be found in the finish. Solid aroma intensity for 40%.

An uncomplicated blend that clearly leans towards the softer, sweeter side. Vanilla, caramel, and tropical fruits dominate the profile. At 40%, it is very approachable but also feels a bit thin because of that. Well made and pleasant, but without much depth or individuality.

A pleasant sipped rum, bought on impulse. Very sweet for my taste but not clogging or unpleasant and I got nice mango notes running through it complimented by subtle woodiness. Mixing with coke i found brought out darker notes of coffee and licorice.

Sweet entry-level rum. Way too "sweet" for me. Nose: caramel, vanilla, sweet desserts. Palate: sugar, quite liqueur-like, caramel. Finish: short, not many aromas emerge. Quite disappointed overall but just does the job for the price to introduce rum to uninitiated guests.

Lots of glue on the nose, behind that fruity with banana, citrus and a bit of almond. Exciting, honey-like sweetness, followed by overripe fruits and accompanied by the glue note. Addendum: especially that really stands out here. Meanwhile I also find the bourbon barrel note very clear. Overall a very nice entry into the CDI portfolio, fun in lighter drinks or as a start in a small tasting round.

My RumRatings review from 5 years ago: The rum is restrained on the nose. Some fruit and barrel notes like vanilla are noticeable. It’s not sharp but also not complex. On the palate, the rum is uncomplicated. Fruity sweet with a bit of spice, it drinks well without having to think much about it. The finish is spicy again with some bourbon influence. For 30-35 euros you get a solid rum from a bottler who values clean rums. Can definitely be used well for mixing. Also good for a party. You can’t go wrong with it.

The nose is fresh with notes of almonds, caramel, vanilla and marzipan.on the palate it's sweet and fruity (on tropical fruits), it's pastry (caramel, crème brûlée).for 40%, we have a nice little length, roundness, notes of honey and roasted. This one can be drunk as it is, but takes off especially in a cocktail. Found for 110 € in Jeroboam (that is to say -25€/bottle of 70 cl), it is more than honest as a quality/price ratio for a rum of this kind. OK it is not an elitist rum of tasting, but this one accompanied me well in evening.
