Vanilla, dry oak and a light sherry note lead here, with orange and stone fruit underneath. Most tasters find it thin and short — pleasant but forgettable. The recurring verdict is that it "could stay longer in sherry casks," and plenty of members openly prefer the bigger 5+5. Fine as a low-key mixer, less rewarding neat.

Oh dear, how can I describe it. The smell is quite sweet and artificial. The taste is just sweet. It almost tastes like a liqueur from the Christmas market. The finish is so quick and short that I find it difficult to taste anything else.

The base in this rum is a blend of 5yo rum from Guyana (DDL) and Barbados (a little unclear if it comes from WIRD or Foursquare, seen both data) aged in the Caribbean. I’ve taste this and I can clearly recognize Demerara at this stage. This base are after arriving to Jerez, Spain, aged for 3 more Solera years in barrels earlier contained Dos Cortados Sherry which is very dry. I think it’s quite good even if it can’t compete with my favorite Sherry finished rum, but it’s in my opinion much better than the 5+5.

On the nose barrel, vanilla, sherry, dried fruits and something like licorice. On the palate delicate with vanilla, light forest notes, sherry and spices on the medium finish. Interesting that some found soap notes, indeed it vaguely reminds of that in texture and taste. Unfortunately it lacks depth and body, but it's not bad.

Nose is hardly there. Taste is OK with orange, apple and vanilla, but rather boring. What a difference with the 5 + 5. There was also a sample of the original blended rum before the '+3' in the same package that actually has more character in my opinion.

Smell: First impression: port wine, wine/white wine, vinegar, raisins. After 5 minutes of standing, the vinegar note disappears and is replaced by caramel and vanilla. Distinct port wine notes remain. Taste: The alcohol is very dominant and not well integrated. Quite harsh. Here too, it becomes noticeably milder after 5 minutes of standing. But also very unspectacular. Clear port wine and wine aromas that overpower everything else. Surprisingly dry, I expected much more sweetness. Very watery and thin. Unfortunately, a total disappointment in terms of taste.

Okay taste clean, not with ice as it needs warm to get the best taste of fruit and citrus, good as a average price mixer. Recommendable for all rum drinkers but not more than that.
