Great, young, and wild Rockley!

Blind tasting: tart, spicy honey, intense smoke and a note of vanilla on the nose. Definitely a Rockley! The nose fully opens on the palate – everything is found again, but the smoke is most clearly perceptible. Added are dark spices in the form of black pepper, allspice, and cloves. The alcohol, probably just over ~55%, seems well integrated. The finish is characterized by smoke, warm smoke, a slight oaky bitterness, and a hint of medicine. One of the better Rockleys (probably) from the year 2000, very close to the Cadenheads BBR 11 yo. Maybe even the best, but that would require a cross-tasting. Too bad I only had 2cl, I would have liked to spend more time with the rum and maybe do a cross-tasting. 89 points
