Smoky honeycomb, coffee, marzipan and a wisp of tar sit over the delicate Rockley waxiness, and at 57% the alcohol is well integrated. 22.04.2006 This location is a must visit if you're in Shanghai. A beautiful centre piece at the riverside of Pudong. Notes. Very light colour. Fruity with banana and coconut. Wood and spices well integrated. Palate is oily and naturally sweet with dried fruit and vanilla. Finish is long with light wood, caramel and light smoke.

Quite intense, but more towards peaty whisky. Must have been finished in a whisky cask. This covers the beautiful delicate Rockley note.

As you've probably noticed, I'm usually not into this type of rum. But no idea why, I didn't find this one so bad. No clue if it was because of the Hobbit hell at Rumurmel or that the whole Franconian Tasting Gang was present.

Very intense rum with a new flavor profile for me. Also for me the first rum with an intense whisky finish that I somewhat like. Especially on the palate and finish it reminds me a lot of a peaty whisky with very well integrated alcohol.

Nice nose with some coffee and marzipan over the delicate honey & wax profile. A touch of smoke and a “yellow fruitiness” are also there. On the palate unfortunately a prominent note of whisky. Not all-encompassing, but unfortunately too dominant (for me). Not on the level of other 86er Rockleys.

Franconian Tasting Gang meets at Rumurmel, April 2026 (Thanks for the entry into the rum treasure chamber. What a cool location!). And again I have to admit that the Rockkey profile doesn't excite me. The typical notes of smoky honeycombs are interesting, but the overall package doesn't suit my taste.

Another bind purchase, but with success. The nose is initially pleasantly fruity with a hint of coffee and roasted almonds. The taste has a slight sweetness with some vanilla. Plums and figs can be tasted in the fruit, as well as some roasted aromas. The 57% is very well integrated and never intrusive. In the aftertaste there is some licorice with a hint of tar. For me, it is very complex and extremely pleasantly long in the mouth.

Nice Rockley, the nose is great. On the palate I like the older releases with higher maturity a bit better, still very successful.
