Most tasters get pineapple, ester and glue with a warm, spicy palate that fills the mouth; a few find the nose flat and the alcohol not fully tucked away. At 69.1% cask strength it needs air. Give it time and it opens into a full basket of tropical fruit, with wood, a little smoke and a bitter, metallic finish.

Crazy stuff. Intense ABV but top integrated. Nose very much sweet fruit, ester, slight cask notes. On the palate first citrus fruits and mouth-filling... then the alcohol comes and burns a bit in the foreground... hold out a few seconds and the full fruit basket opens... In the finish, a few bitter notes emerge. Great drop. Today in direct comparison with Beast 2

Unfortunately, I can't quite go along with the top ratings. The nose I find despite an hour of breathing somewhat flat. The high ABV does him but good and in the mouth already ne real grenade. Thank you for the sample 🙏🏼

Powerful and adstringent on the palate, just as the name suggests. Very tasty with lots of funk. Tropical fruits, a tint of salt, woody notes, some smokiness. While intense this is well balanced with very good integrated alcohol. Great bottling.

A great rum especially considering the price tag. Fruity from nose to finish and warm/spicy on the palate. A very unique finish and a must try if you like funky rums.

Today the two TRC beasts in the glass. Both very tasty and very similar in aroma profile. Lots of esters, tropical fruits, astringent, glue,... Beast I is a bit sharper and basically wilder. Beast II is oilier and creamier on the palate, the fruits come more to the fore, the rum is more complex. For that the finish is a bit shorter. I prefer the second Beast.

Despite the 69.1%, the nose is relatively restrained and unspectacular. Metallic/medical notes on the palate and not really harmonious overall. Unfortunately, the alcohol is not well integrated. Couldn't really convince the 2nd time either and falls short of expectations.

Nice Hampden, fruity, sweet, funky on the nose, with a delicious note of almond or marzipan. On the palate you clearly notice the high alcohol content, but in a pleasant, warm way. Some wood and a slightly smoky note come in. For a long time after the last sip you feel a medicinal, metallic note.

It's very good but it's not as good as the Hampden 90-92-93. The mouth is better than the nose. The finish is not very long despite a rather strong rum.

Long awaited and today the beasts are being tasted. Nose is very restrained, more fruity sweet than ester and glue. Taste doesn't convince me 100% either. A bit bitter and alcoholic on the finish. PVL is not good here.

The bottling from The Rum Cask has plenty of power and needs some time in the glass. If you give it that, the bottling delivers. Nicely fruity with a slightly bitter, woody finish. Unfortunately also a bit smoky.

.. Hampden is a distillery producing incredibly fragrant rums. That's why a part of its production is used as a basic raw material for perfumes. I recommend tasting gentle yet incredibly rich-flavored rums older than 20 years, or very young rums with a high ester content called DOK. Don't be afraid of the high alcohol volume ;)
