Poured neat it's thin and a bit medicinal — solvent, glue and a faint chemical edge with just a whisper of sugar to soften it. In cola or a daiquiri it does its job quietly and disappears. Almost nobody here sips it; it's a light, cheap column-still white built to hide behind lime, cola and fruit juice.

It is very popular for its lightness and balance, making it ideal for cocktails. It also pairs well with sodas and fruit juices. It consists of dominant aromas like vanilla, almond, tropical fruit, floral notes... More or less......

I remember using this one as a mixer back in 2019, where the picture is from. I would never recommend drinking this neat, but back then it went well in some cocktails, and the night in question it was used in a daiquiri. I remember it having a floral and alcoholic nose, and a flat oaky taste

I don’t have much great to say about this rum. Like other Bacardi products I get alcohol and rooibos tea. It is fine in a rum and coke, and serves as a fine base for infusions where the other flavors take the lead.

I wanted to try this for three reasons: 1. It's easier and cheaper to get hold of than almost all rum, so if I enjoy it, that'll save some cash! 2. To calibrate my tastes using a truly young, filtered silver white rum. 3. It marks a return to a genre that during my idiot years sent me to hospital. There's the younger rums of all colours that get the 'intended as a mixer' label, but can stand by themselves just fine - whether down to a bit of aging, a decent blend, and not being too harshly filtered - and then there's a white like this. I can't detect anything remotely exciting on the nose: just fresh, young & metallic medicine juice. A little nauseating. It transforms on the tongue to a surface-level mix of desiccated coconut (conjuring a nostalgic return to my early rum experiences) and peppery aniseed, both bitter and lacking sweetness. Instead, what tastes like half a table spoon of granulated sugar poorly mixed in tap water lands adjacent on the tongue to make it somewhat drinkable. The finish is swift and the flavours immediately forgotten. With cola (what else) the coconut taste remains and I am immediately reminded, of course, of the cans of premix available for an inflated price at Tesco Express, which I've always thought taste a bit processed. The Superior is the first in my rum tasting journey that'll have to sit unfinished. (It stings that in Spain and Portugal, for instance, HC3 and other Cuban-style rums with actual character are priced nearly identically, whilst in the UK, Bacardi Superior seems to have its own, bespoke price bracket which is certainly what makes it so appealing for most.)

Smells is mainly alcohol with hints of a woodiness. Flavors of alcohol, spice and a woody hint. I think it tastes a little better than it smells but probably just a mixer. Revising this, it definitely isn't a sipper but works well in a daiquiri or cuba libra

Nothing to add is just a rum to mix drinks. you won't find any that excel. It does the job and is very cheap. Besides it probably won't be my first choice even for mixing
