A very intense nose where tar and rubber dominate with smoky wood. Fruit is complex but in the background. The attack is powerful with tar and rubber. The fruit shows the tip of its nose and the smoky wood becomes more pronounced. Then a certain sweetness, a pastry-like quality, appears. The finish is long, on machine shop, smoked wood and fruit. Here too, at the very end, a pastry sweetness adds complexity to this rather powerful rum.

#4862 Whisky Live in Paris 27.09.2024-30.09.2024. Another great event meeting a lot of RumX new and old friends. This year three weren't as many new releases as in 2023, but I still had a great time. Nose Round, balanced, wood, light roasted, faint anise, light mint, light rubber, faint tar, fruits. Palate Wood, light roasted, light cherry, fruits, light rubber, light tar, light mint, light anise, medium dry, faint smoke, faint caramel. Finish Medium to long, wood, light roasted, spice, light mint, light rubber, light tar, faint caramel, light anise. This is a very easy drinkable Caroni and the ABV is perfectly integrated. This bottle has also reached a price level where you just sample it if you can 😊

Beautiful tropical aged Caroni that feels more at home on the dirty side. Needs some time to develop. It is a bit too rough on the palate for a top rating.The wrong number of bottles on the label make it a real rarity.

It's a great rum this one. Lovely nose with rubber, menthol and fruits. On the palate it's beautiful, more on the dirty side with spices, wood influence, fruits, tar and some sweetness. Leather as well? A lengthy finish with more menthol. Really enjoyed this one, everything a Caroni should be I reckon. Apparently it's a lot rarer than initially thought due to a print error on the label according to the Caroni book!

8,9:On the nose, it is dirty and industrial with menthol, rubber, tar, fruity with red and citrus fruits, the wood is roasted and spicy with chocolate, nuts and vanilla, cinammon. On aeration, varnish is felt, vegetal aspect of this rum with mint, tobacco and black tea and stronger fruits with berries and dried currants. 8.8:On the palate, the attack is sweet, syrupy with roasted wood notes like caramel, chocolate and biscuits, spicy with anise, pepper, vanilla, there is some sap and dirty industrial notes with tar, rubber and some menthol, as fruits reveal themselves wide after oxidation with berries and citrus fruits, cigar, leather notes grow stronger, black tea. 8,7:The finish is dry and dirty, tannic, less fruity, with strong barrel impact, some cardboard notes touch, metallic patina, smoky with cigar. ... Caroni is a distillery from Trinidad, producing rum at the height of its fame, which was added in a ratio of 1:10 to naval blends. It was too strong and strange to be pleasant on the tongue. In 2000 the distillery ended production and was closed. Only in 2010 did tasters appear who liked the rum precisely for its special taste. And interest grew. Caroni belongs to the category of rums "you need to try before you die." I recommend it, Caroni is really a unique rum.

On the nose, typical Caroni notes are combined with a pleasant fruitiness and a hint of menthol and mint, and the wood from the barrel is also very noticeable. On the palate, spicy aromas, above all aniseed, overlay the red fruits on the nose and a slight, pleasant spiciness is perceptible. The finish is again aniseed and a long and increasing dryness. Great rum and also a good Caroni!

Very nice. There is the dirty nose, but not brute, rather fine: old varnish from which the solvents are already out, menthol. Something fresh like resin and light citrus peel on plantains, some dry tobacco. Delicious. Slightly dirty overtone in the direction of furniture polish, which remains. Woody and fruity underneath, menthol here too. Slightly spicy, something like clove or caraway. Slightly leather and tobacco. Spicy, dirty, grimy. I really like it.
