I also like the Bumbu Original, but this one is already very good for me. Not sweet, very balanced, I think coffee to recognize, a long soft finish. A super rum, for the quality at a very reasonable price to get.

Just like its Original version, this is a good rum to start with but this time, we can say that it is a rum. A good entry level rum for aged (and accessible) rums and also very good to prepare one's palate to less sweet things (without the 40g/l of sugar) despite being finished in sherry casks. Nevertheless, it is a rum that loses a lot of interest by tasting more complex and worked things. We also regret this opaque black bottle that hides the liquid and, for my part, the cork that ended up being attacked by alcohol. However, the bottle remains in this pirate spirit, quite fun at first. A rum with, I think, more interest in mixology than dry.

6,5:The nose opens on a roasted register, with strongly toasted oak, coffee, charcoal and roasted nuts. A little vanilla sweetness gradually coats all this, along with a slightly fruity cane syrup. With aeration, the nuts become increasingly concentrated and roasted, the coffee even tighter. It's easy to imagine a truly charred barrel. 6:The palate is round and very caramelized. The sweet rum has licked the toasted wood and taken all its vanilla with it. The coffee and roasted nuts are generously coated, so that their burnt side is totally melted. 6:The finish unfolds on the same roasted notes. It s more rigid on the nose, it opens on palate. Unlike the other Bumbu, this really tastes like Rum in the first place. But generally like you'd imagine how an average rum tastes, so there is nothig outstanding. But still not bad, overpriced though in my opinion.

It was one of my first rums. I just get to retasting this one after a while. Definitely better than the original. I like the flask design with an iconic X. On palate it is not bad, moderate but fine. I was able to try this one today together with the Sonthi Panama. The rum is okay. Less sweet than others in the range. Light sherry notes, a bit of wood can be detected. The alcohol is not optimally integrated. More like a first step into less overly sweet areas.

I remember the time when classic Bumbu was the top rum for me, I had a birthday and got this as a gift. But after the classic Bumbu it was quite hell. Today it's still hell, but from a different direction. Nevertheless, nostalgia is nostalgia :-).

I like it a lot 👍 Nose: Very clear coffee, nutty and some spicy notes. I was expecting some more of it on the nose .... Palate: Nicely balanced between spicy and toffee hints ... I especially like coffee part of it and also the fruitiness... Finish: Pleasant but not too long. Definitely the best neat 🔝

I tasted the XO and the original Bumbu together today. My conclusion: The original Bumbu won't come into my rum glass anymore. There's too much sweetness and banana in it, more like a liqueur than a rum. The XO is more authentic and works as an interesting entry-level rum. Definitely very good in various cocktails. I plan to try a lot.

I might have had the first sample a few years ago. Now I tasted it from my wife and it's nothing special. It didn't seem very sweet to me either, but the alcohol burn bothers me a lot.

A rum more complex than the original. It's more aggressive so avoid drinking it afterwards! For me, it's much better because you really feel the spices and less the vanilla. A good old rum at an affordable price. For me, it ticks all the boxes for a rum to enjoy with friends or family!

Beautiful color, powerful nose of exotic fruits, banana, harlequin? In any case, very indulgent, warm palate on the fruits but with an astringency that bothers me. Warm finish on the alcohol!

Woody and a little sharp, but with a soft and subtle sweetness that glimmers in the background. A splash of water to bring down the alcohol burn and this becomes a great sipper with an almost sugary bourbon profile

One of the rums the people will get envolved with to move higher. Notes of coffee, toasted oak, vanilla and roasted nuts. Unlike the original Bumbu, this XO is less sweet and much more wood-forward. Smooth palate with caramel, spice and light fruitiness. Easy sipping, approachable and enjoyable neat. Obviously lacking a bit of complexity and overpriced, but seems like you need this one at the bar. Cause once someone-sometime comes and asks for a cocktail ;)

A pleasant rum for a nice evening with friends. The finish is very warm and leans towards 'old style'. The nose has more of a wood and coffee note but really pleasant. The taste is milder than other XO rums and tastes slightly like coffee.

For me, the Bumbu XO is better than the Bumbu Original, as it already goes more in the direction of rum. It was one of my first barrel-aged rums and thus an entry into the rum world for me. So better this one for the entry than the Original.

If you want to get properly drunk on sweet rum then why not with this one, not for classic drinking though, but for mixing in drinks I’d say very suitable. It just lacks juice, for me a boring vanilla caramel rum.

Этот ром можно назвать просто хорошим ромом. Довольно характерный аромат, сильный, плотный. Вкус травянистый, с хорошей порцией дерева. Но единственное, что мне не очень нравится это горчинка в конце, можно назвать ее излишней перечностью. Сахара в этом роме мало или нет совсем , на вкус он довольно сухой

The Original has character. It's very sweet, it's like biting into a cake. You can love it or not, but it's clear what it is like. It is also very sweet, perhaps too much so, but without character or characteristics. You drink it and forget about it. Average.

Bumbu XO is a blend of rums distilled in Panama and aged on site in American bourbon barrels. Some of the cuvées that compose it are up to 18 years old. A finishing in sherry casks adds a final touch to this gourmand rum before bottling.
