Habitation Velier Hampden LFCH 2011
Overripe pineapple and cooked banana lead here, with glue and solvent tucked underneath rather than shouting. Being a lower-ester Hampden mark, it's the mellower, rounder side of the distillery — plenty of tropical fruit, young oak and warm spice, tropical-aged into a concentrated dram. Several tasters call it "one of my favourite Hampden" and a genuinely drinkable daily sipper despite the 60.5%.
- Overripe pineapple
- Well-integrated alcohol
- Easy daily sipper

Rounder, fruit-forward Hampden you can sip daily Loved as a rounder, more everyday Hampden — full of pineapple, banana and funk without being an ester bomb. Some wish it had more punch; the finish can run short.

Nice Hampden. Nice toasty aromas. More ester than the hampden estate overproof and also drier in the finish.
Review by Campbell
While not an ester bomb, Hampden’s flavor profile is still in full force here. Plenty of overripe fruitiness, especially pineapple, mesh well with a fair bit of spice—more so than I’d expect given the younger age and otherwise mellower cask-derived notes. It drinks quite well for its proof, and It’s a bottle I’m certainly looking forward to spending more time with.

It's the perfect definition of what is hampden. Not the most complex rum from the distillery, but one of the tastiest, very funky, and generous. Exotic fruits marmalade, beautiful texture... Gorgeous Hampden!

Third tasting and still really good, actually a bit better than last tasting. I like the rubber notes at the end. ————— Fourth tasting and bumping it again, really really good.
Review by Gregor
Great Hampden with everything you could wish for. Lots of fermented tropical fruit. Strong estetic notes without being too overwhelming. But simply tasty. Good value for money. Clear recommendation to buy
Review by Rowald Sweet Empire
Very good Hampden. Great balance between fruit/wood/spices. Not overly funky. Baked banana. Pineapple obviously. Not overripe but still on the fresh side. Pretty much flawless. Second try. Still love it.

A very good hampden easy to access and very round. A small delicacy

Solid tropical LFCH and a good daily sipper! Uncomplicated, not overwhelming but not boring at all. Is very much Hampden in it and for daily use very well suited ;-)

Clearly less 'dramatic' than other Hampdens and therefore felt 'light-footed'. A Jamaican, which you can also just drink without fading everything else, but which is still no less exciting. The unexpected very natural raspberry note also knows how to please. Top!

Admittedly, young but very fragrant, very good hampden once again. It's true that you can smell a bit of alcohol at first but after 30 mins of aeration it's much better. I liked it 🤩😍

This LFCH rum from Hampden delivers exactly what you’d expect: solid and well-crafted. The nose opens with vibrant notes of lemon, tropical fruits, nail polish, young wood, and pineapple, giving it that classic funk. The palate brings tropical fruits like mango and banana, supported by slight tannins and young wood, balancing out the profile. The finish lingers long with sweet, citrus, and honeyed tones, rounded off by pineapple and woody undertones. Overall, it’s a great choice for fans of Hampden, reliable and satisfying.

Delicious low ester Hampden with a great, balanced nose with plantain. Some honey and cereals too. Slightly creamy. I think the low esters benefit even more from tropical lagering than the higher ester levels already do.
Review by Thunderbird
On the nose a lot of pineapple and fermented banana flows in, the alcohol is also very noticeable In the mouth is first a sweetness and then the tingle of alcohol ! Then a slightly peppery note and young wood. It is slightly astringent ! Gradually develops a light banana flavor and some vanilla! Delicious! In the finish remains the spicy, paired with banana and vanilla.

Not an ester bomb, but well tuned. Can be drunk very pleasantly for over 60% alc. Compared to the LROK without a long wait round and for me the price-performance winner.
Review by Mathieu C.
LFCH = around 200 ester --> light Rich nose, discreet solvent, fine woody, ripe fruits, brioche, raisins = refined Jamaican nose due to the low ester content, not too abrupt and marked as in the C<>HMouth a bit more disappointing, a bit acidic, less richLong and greedy finish
Review by Henry Davies
A cracking rum. Leads with the typical Hampden notes and leaves you wanting more. At the first instance all wood and leather bound books moving to more tropical pineapple and banana. Deep complex mouth with many layers and esters over sugar leading to a long and satisfying finish. Really top notch sipping rum
Review by Portman
Great fruits that are wonderfully supported and rounded off by the subtle ester content. Vanilla, banana, plum... Very fresh, soft and round. Easy sipper.
Review by Rhum Mirror 🇧🇪
The nose is very fine and fresh, it is rather floral in addition to the typical markers of Hampden (banana). We find the usual frame of a LROK. The nose is typically artificial. In mouth it is powerful and funky as one pleases. It is heavy on tropical fruits (pineapple), leather and a little coffee. The finish is intense on spices and some empyreumatic notes. The conclusion is simple, real Hampden, no frills, as we like to blow our taste buds ... but a bit conventional.
Review by Christoph
The Hampden profile is definitely there but the esters are just missing here.
