Mint and menthol lead here, over dried fruit, herbs and a fresh, flowery nose that shifts toward chocolate and coffee with time. Several tasters call it a "classic" 1998 Bellevue: thin and shy on the pour, then it fills out in the glass. Palate runs herbal, woody, with wet tobacco and a long, roasted-wood finish. Give it air.

And then a nice Bellevue. I find the alcohol here very well integrated. It is definitely very oaky, but also very toasty. Besides coffee, cocoa, and dark chocolate, you can also detect milk chocolate here.

Very soft and floral on the nose and palate. Light oak with vanilla and flowers comes through well. A hint of sweetness from the caramel and otherwise lightly spicy. It becomes pleasantly warm on the palate with a hint of mint and chocolate. The finish is medium. Reasonably good rum but no wow factor.

This is a great release from this bottler and at release the price was very good compared to the price tag. The nose is very fresh, fruity and woody trailed by herbs, mint and chocolate. I can only recommend leaving the empty glass and then nose it after a few hours. The palate isconplex and well balanced with fruits and wood trailed by chocolate, coffee and a hint of wet tobacco. The finish is very long with roasted wood, raisin and a hint of licorice.

Another 1998 Bellevue with a classic flavor profile. The Duchess bottling needs some time in the glass, but then it develops into a good Bellevue. Spices, red fruits, and a bit of wood.

Lovely floral aroma, sifted cask, full of vanilla and a little menthol or something. Taste-wise, unfortunately, it's a weaker concoction of what's smelled. Maybe the rum is too old and I personally would have preferred a wilder profile. Nevertheless, it's still an excellent piece.

Quite a surprise. At first, the very minty aroma struck me, on closer inspection an oily structure, menthol... technique. Blindly guessed some Trinidad, probably Angostura. It's a pity that the current bottle price no longer makes sense for purchase.
