Rum Nation Port Mourant Small Batch Rare Rums 1998
"A nice evening" kind of rum, as one Danish member put it — dark Port Mourant with cocoa, black tea, plum and dried fruit, wrapped in a heavy sherry-cask layer. Tobacco, leather and a roasted, almost bread-crust edge run underneath. Most people enjoy the depth, though a few feel the sherry sits on top and flattens the distillate a little.

Dark, sherried Port Mourant with cocoa and plum Most love this dark, spicy PM for its cocoa, black tea and dried fruit. A few feel the sherry cask dominates and presses the distillate flat, with a sharp acidic edge on some pours.

09.02.2024 Nordlichter treffen. Retasting and I still like it a lot so I'll stick to my initial score. ------------------ 19. 01.2019 A nice evening with colleagues from all over Denmark. Notes. Very dark in colour. Nose Intense, wood, roasted, citrus, raisin, anise. Palate Oily, wood, roasted, anise, raisin, light chocolate, light smoke,plum. Finish Long, wood, smoke, citrus, chocolate.

Great dark PM. A great mix of yellow fruit and cocoa on the nose. Then more cocoa in the mouth, some dried fruit and just dark overall. Uncomplicated and delicious, makes a great daily sipper

Closed on the nose, benefiting from some time in the air. A tick of something that I perceive as sulphur. Then still closed on the palate. Is that sulphur or is it more dried fruit? With a little time and a few drops of water, it opens up a little more. Not bad, but not a favorite.

Je ne sais pas si je suis influencé parce que je sais qu'il y a un finish sherry mais je le sens au nez et en bouche et je trouve que cela écrase les arômes du rhum qui me semble pas être extraordinaire. C'est rond, facile à boire mais un peu écoeurant.

Fine fruit, especially citrus with a subtle sweetness. Beautiful cocoa notes in the mouth, spice, a little mint. Well-integrated alcohol and a herbal finish at the end. Nice Port Mourant profile, although a little something is missing.
