Great Neisson profile, wood, nougat, apricot kernels, subtle spices. Pleasantly balanced and round, the alcohol strength works perfectly. In my eyes a very good, but not top-class representative of Neisson.

Finally, a taste of Neisson's very 1st millesime. It's 10 years old It doesn't have the hazelnut taste of the last Neissons, but more of a pecan taste, and the woodiness is present with a hint of saltiness. It fades relatively quickly, and the length is just average. This is the 1st millesime bottled by Alex Bobi when he joined neisson in 2001. A collector's rum

Neisson is one of the smallest distilleries on Martinique, making under 2 percent of the island's rum, and one of the two independent family houses among the island's classic AOC distilleries. Run today by Claudine Vernant Neisson and her son Gregory, it distils on a 1952 all-copper Savalle still, ferments with its own native yeast, and makes what many call the island's finest white rhum. The community rates its aged bottlings among the very best agricole there is.
