Best sipped neat with a few minutes in the glass, because that wine cask needs room to settle. It's a cane-juice rum from Madeira where the finish runs the show: red wine, raisin, dried dates and clove, with cedar wood and a faintly furry, drying mouthfeel. The 52% is well tucked in. Several tasters found the wine "too dominant" and the cane character buried underneath.

Johannes Blind-Tasting-Set No. 7: The rum needs time in the glass... then it unfolds a nice aroma with dried fruits, spice and wood. And all in a nice balanced interplay.. Alcohol very well integrated. Successful sipper.

If you like it, go ahead. For me, a sample in Johannes' blind tasting that in my opinion was finished dead in a cask. Unfortunately, I can't recognize any base material. But I would guess it's a Jamaican.

Gefällt mir sehr gut. Würze mit Wechsel Süffigkeit. Top Ding. Alkohol genau richtige Stärke. In der Zweitverkostung deutlich kantiger und unausgewogener.

Many thanks Johannes for this blind tasting. #No.7 On the nose I first smell only wine/port or something like that... lots of grape and pepper. It also has something floral... light sweetness, a bit of cherry. On the palate, first to note is that the alcohol is very well integrated... Here too, lots of wine or port (possibly finish), grapes and plum very much in focus. Some bitterness and chocolate. Difficult, I still think an Agricole. Unfortunately, not my taste at all, though that doesn’t mean it’s a bad rum.

Post-tasting of blind tasting set Johannes. This is definitely a rum from sugarcane juice. I also believe it was aged or finished in a wine barrel. About 50% / 10 years. Not an agricole fan, but drinkable.

Bild tasting #7: some kind of sweet wine finish. Lots of red fruits and sweetness (nougat maybe). On the palate: finish, finish, finish. Olorosso? Maybe even something sweeter like Madeira..? Finis is definitely to present for my liking. It is not bad, but too dominat overall. Cheers, Johannes for the set - was a blast to taste.

19. 01.2019 A nice evening with colleagues from all over Denmark. Notes. Medium dark colour. Nose: fresh, wood, dried fruit, wine, light leather. Palate: spicy, wood, roasted, wine, dry, cherry, dried fruit. Finish: long, wood, spice, dry, light leather.

Blind tasting set from Johannes (thanks for that): On the nose, the finish dominates, some kind of wine cask. Notes of red wine and grape prevail. Added are nougat, burnt sugar and some dried fruit. On the palate still red wine, somehow astringent and with a furry mouthfeel.

Nach Jahren in meinem Regal habe ich diesen Agricole geöffnet, die Neugier hat gesiegt 🫢. Die Nase ist weinlastig, leicht süßlich, ledrig mit leichtem Faßeinfluss. Der Geschmack ist trocken, grasig, salzig, etwas bitter im Hintergrund. Der Abgang ist lang, trocken mit etwas Bleistiftspähne im Hintergrund, Heu und Kamille. Der Alkohol ist gut eingebunden. Getrocknete Datteln und Rosinen. Dazu Würze und Fassreifung. Das Finish merkt man eindeutig, wenn ich auch nicht zu sagen vermag, dass es genau dieses Finish ist. Aber es passt zu den Aromen.
