03.01.2020 In a cottage with friends for the weekend with a few bottles of rum. Notes: Dark in colour. Nose: Wood, roasted, rubber, tar, cherry, mint, light caramel. Palate: Oily, wood, roasted, rubber, light tar, dried fruit, vegetal, dry. Finish: Long and dry, wood, light nutts, light smoke, cherry, rubber, tar.

A first nose of wet dog with medicinal bitterness, dry acidity, but immediately beautiful overripe tropical fruits take center stage. The kind of fruits from the 1998 vintage. The first palate is both fruity and bitter, acidic and medicinal. Not much harmony here. But things improve to reach a somewhat decent finish where the fruits are present.

Crosstasting 1997 Caronis from continental storage: Expressive Caroni with a present HTR profile. Alcohol recognizable, without final balance - the lack of balance costs a few rating points.
