Espresso, dark chocolate and a heap of old oak — this is Enmore turned all the way toward the dark, roasted end. Licorice and anise sit underneath, with pencil shavings and a touch of dried plum that several tasters flag. At 46% it drinks mild and round, yet the wood keeps things dry and the finish runs unusually long. A few find it slightly bitter and thin on the palate; most just call it a very good Guyanese.

Wow, what a nose! Incredibly dense and complex. On the palate then a little more discreet. But still amazing how full and heavy the drinking strength comes across. Really great Guyana rum!

RumX Advent calendar day 3 Nose ...Honey, rubber, bitter notes, blood orange, (citrus) herbs, alcohol barely noticeable. A bit of menthol. Palate ...At first a bit flat... then bitterness, burnt sugar, pencil, herbs, eucalyptus... wood A bit of citrus. Finish also rather bitter and woody. I don't warm up to it...

Must be a MEC. I like it very much, even though it's a bit reduced. This makes it less demanding and almost an easy sipper.

RumX Advent Calendar, day 3. A nose of Enmore with a powerful wood dominating almost everything. A dark nose with prune and old varnish. There is so much wood that it seems to me to be of several kinds, centuries-old oak and cedar wood. Fortunately, this nose also has a fresh side with peppermint, chili, and fresh pineapple. The palate is clearly oriented towards the dark sides, a lot of wood (oak and cedar), but freshness and a varnish side are present. The finish is long but at the very end notes of prunes, varnish, and fruits reappear. A touch of hemp rope. A rum quite extreme on the wood, you feel like you are in the hold of a merchant navy frigate. But to my taste quite interesting. Better than its brother the RX1328.

02.07.2026 Retasting and I still like it a lot. -------- 09.01.2019 Enjoying samples at home. Colour Medium to dark in colour. Nose Wood. Light orange, caramel, banana, light anise, herbal, spice, light petrol. Palate Balanced, round, complex, wood, light roasted, faint smoke, spice, light raisin, banana, faint orange, cinnamon. Finish Long and warm, wood, spice, light anise, caramel, faint smoke, light spicy, light herbal, faint varnish.

For me an ideal example of how Enmore can taste due to the wooden still. Beginner-friendly without being boring. Intense wood notes, light herbal notes (thyme, rosemary, lovage), strong roast aromas like strong espresso or mocha, dark chocolate and a very subtle saltiness with some dried plum. Reminds me a lot of Japanese Umeshu Sake! The 46% are, in my opinion, very well chosen and a good example of well-made dilution without losing character. The finish is unusually long! Also my vintage, really a great bottling that practically has no flaws! It doesn't always have to be cask strength.

RumX calendar day 3 After pouring, I was pretty sure that today it was a rum from Guyana. After some time, I guessed an Enmore. I'm satisfied with my guess. About the rum itself, despite dilution it doesn't feel watered down and releases its aromas superbly. Not tiring but also not boring. I like it quite a bit. I saw that another sample is now on its way to me. I'll enjoy that one again in complete peace.

This coloring Shade (old oak) I haven't chosen for a long time, I'm very curious! Nose: Harz cheese! Phew, that's special! Overall not very intense and difficult to differentiate. Very faint shriveled raisins and malt. Palate: definitely Guyana but very long aged, hardly any fruit left. Alcohol content also seems rather low (~50%). Therefore I would guess RX7441. Exceptional rum with crazy cask influence.

Rum X Advent calendar 2024, door number 3. Immediately clear that this must be a Guyana. Probably a pure pot still? At first I thought PM, then the pencil came ✏️ ... I guess a VSG with around (+- 5) 50%.

RumX Advent calendar 2024 Day 3. This Kill Devil also has a great nose. Very smoky, roasted and woody. On the palate it also has great flavors of wood, espresso and coffee. A very nice rum.

RumX Calendar 2024 Day 3: intense nose with licorice, pencil, mushrooms... very dense. Initially guessing an old PM. Confirmed in the mind, good power with 50%+ and great mouthfeel. Wood, tannins, molasses, vanilla in nice balance with intense mushroom & licorice. Slightly bitter. Medium-long finish. Stick with older Guyana / PM.

Day 3 of the 2024 Advent calendar. First impression: graphite, then come dried fruits, tobacco, herbs, slightly sour (orange zest?), wax. On the palate pronounced spiciness, coffee, roasted, tobacco, cask. The dilution is rather positive here (undiluted it would probably be too bitter). Really good Enmore!

On the nose: While this rum opened up in the glass, notes varied from woody to very licorice/anise forward palate and end up being woody, very roasted, light anise/licorice and pencil shavings notes. Good, strong notes for a 46% rum. Taste:Woody, roasted, herbal notes, licorice notes. Palate evolves coffee notes with little bit of herbal and spicy notes. Dark palate and you can feel the low abv on mild intensity, but notes are still quite good. Finish: Dry. Roasted and woody notes. Roasted notes do have light peppery note in it. Palate changes to coffee notes and light leather notes. Finish is long and very good. I liked how the palate did evolve in tasting towards coffee notes and it also created a nice finish aswell.

Day 3 of the RumX Advent calendar: Yesterday, in my opinion, the first highlight of this year's Advent calendar. A rum just to my taste, dark and roasted, with a wonderful molasses-coffee-chocolate mix and some dried fruit. Despite the rather low alcohol strength, a very full-bodied and complex pleasure, making you wonder what a great flavor bomb would have emerged here without dilution.

It was in the glass for a few minutes now, great dark nose, wood, leather very rusty. On the palate very mild, nicely spicy and very complex. Probably the maximum possible at this alcohol content and at the same time easy to drink. Finish spicy woody with a slight herbal note and a nicely bitter finish that lasts a long time.

I think it's a Demerara, port mourant with long ageing or a Versailles. Apple, leather and caramel dominate the nose along with tea leaves. In the mouth there is some bitterness and the rum is a bit thin when sipping, with mainly caramel and wood notes

RumX Advent Calendar 2024: No. 3 A rum with dark color and higher ABV. This rum probably spent some time in the barrel. I would guess a Jamaican rum (New Yarmouth). Overall very round, heavy and warm, perfect for the season.

RumXmas 2024, day 3 Time for some air. First impression: Guyana. Rich and luscious chocolate tones. Creamy mouthfeel with some woody tannins in the finish, dry on the tongue but not overwhelming. Well I like it, a lot!

The nose promises what the palate can not keep! While the nose is quite complex and delivers especially notes of red and dark fruits, paired with toasty and woody aromas, the rum comes on the palate but somewhat weak. Although you can taste many wood and roasted flavors, but behind it it becomes thin. The finish is also very short, which raises the question of why the rum was diluted so much. A bottling with higher ABV or even barrel strength would certainly be exciting, and would probably drive the overall rating up.

Guyana was pretty clear quickly. Somehow I got stuck on the 2012 vintage. But much rounder than the Bellamy's. Has something of dark beer. Very accessible. I would have guessed 50% alcohol. I like it. That the rum is then 20 years older is surprising. The 46% also work well. So far no cask strength in the calendar. Hasn't bothered me so far. Also exciting.

The 1992 Enmore from Kill Devil transports the flavor notes surprisingly well for only 46% alcohol content. Really nice easy sipper with lots of wood, coffee, licorice root. Slight pencil note and unfortunately that's not my thing. But still a good bottling.

Blind tasting Advent calendar 2024. Nutty but also grassy notes but not at all intrusive. On the palate very impressive and warming. Also nutty raisin notes here. Nice finish. Really a great rum.

RumX Advent 2024-3 Pencil on the nose, dark, roasted, slightly burnt caramel. Also slightly spicy. In the mouth first very mild and light, then woody, bitter, vanilla and caramel. Feels fuller than the ABV probably is. It has seen a lot of wood. A bit rough for my taste and despite the probably low ABV a bit too alcoholic. My tip, Guyana for sure. Maybe a light VSG?

Nose initially fruity but quickly shifts to dark aromas (wood, leather, roasted...). The palate is dark with a nice mocha and some dried fruits. Long finish on these dark aromas. Tasted blind: reminds me of a KFM 1991 but less brutal. Not my favorite style...

Day 3 RumX Advent calendar. Wow, on the nose somehow dark berries hit me. With a good portion of wood and spiciness. I think I sense lovage and other herbs. On the palate then a good portion of wood with plenty of spice (already quite bitter). The finish stays incredibly intense for a long time. Overall not really my favorite but very tasty.

Nose: Initially harmonious with mild dark roasted aromas of coffee. Then also spices like licorice and anise. Palate: pleasant warm mouthfeel at the beginning, very mild. Then distinct coffee/espresso and chocolate. Next are spicy flavors like licorice. Finish: then meaty and toasty flavors take over, coffee comes back and is accompanied by herbs. Conclusion: harmony on the nose and palate despite the complex aromas. A great, complex and very mild but intense rum. It's fun to drink.

Tasted in sample. Quite a complex rum, I almost struggle to describe it. On the nose it is full, rich and balanced with a note of caramel but not too sweet, ripe tropical fruit. Promises well. On the palate the same things return but a note of grilled food is added. The finish is long with an unexpected bitter note. A slight taste of ginger lingers for a long time. This rum really surprised me.

Day 3 in the RumX Advent calendar 2024 Smell: Typical Enmore 90s notes of leather, wood, and pencil Taste: Initially again the spicy Enmore 90 profile. Unfortunately quite bitter on the finish. Alcohol content rather below 50% than above. Conclusion: Nose better than the palate. I've had (significantly) better Enmore in the glass.
