This is a very good release. Be sure to rest it for a good while or it'll bite you both the nose and palate. Once settled it's nice and fruity with very well integrated wood and spices. The palate is warm/spicy with some wood shop notes and the finish lingers for very long. Nice curtains and the empty glass is really nice and I can pick up some chocolate and tobacco.

The Auld Alliance 07/2026 Muss lange atmen. Zu Beginn viel Politur und Lack. Keine Ester, kräftig. Viel Erde und Tabak. Getrocknete Bananen, Kokosnuss. Wenig Holz. Sehr tief und vielschichtig. Man kann mit der Nase viel Zeit verbringen. Mit etwas Wasser kommen komplexe Zitrusnoten. 🍊🍋🍋🟩 Im Mund holzig, würzig, viel Lakritz. Ein wunderbarer, warmer, langer Abgang. Lakritz, Karamell und Zitrusfrüchte. Ein sehr reifer und ehrwürdiger Rum in einer schönen Flasche. Wer einen typischen Long Pond mit Estern erwartet wird hier herb enttäuscht und stattdessen mit einem Column-Pofil erwartet. Man muss sich lange damit beschäftigen, ihm seine Nuancen zu entlocken. Lesetipp: From Russia with Love, geschrieben auf Jamaica circa 20 Jahre vor der Destillation.
