17.12.2025 Retasting and I still love this rum.this was the final sample from my last bottle. ------------- This is also an older tasting and at the release the price was very good compared to what you got. This rum is heavy, really heavy and it hits you as soon as you open the bottle. I'm not a certain but I made a note that I thought there was a hint of raisin in there. The nose is heavy on roasted wood with tar, molasses and some nuts. The palate is heavy, very complex and extremely well balanced with lots of roasted, even burnt wood actually, tar, molasses and a hint of mint. The finish goes on forever and has lots of roasted/burnt wood and tar. The note I have is that the colour was beautifully dark, bomb of a nose and heavy curtains in the glass.

For me the king of Gardel. Despite two more years in the barrel compared to the 18-year-old Cadenheads release, the barrel-induced bitter notes actually appear tamer and leave more room on the palate for the unique Gardel blend: rich floral-aromatic aromas, nuanced sweetness of apricots, bananas and some burnt sugar. Then vegetal tones leaning towards eucalyptus, minimal lavender and in the roasted area I actually find a hint of incense. Plus bone-dry spice, some pepper, leather, vanilla. Outstanding, a true delight.

My first really old Gardel... absolute gods stuff! Rarely have I experienced such an intense bergamot and lavender note. Gigantic, concentrated aromas and an almost endless finish. Hammer awesome! Thank you Rob!

Great experience with a Gardel and I have to say I was surprised! Concentrated intensity and dark flavors ranging from charred wood, tobacco, licorice and a mix between plums and dates really very pleasant! The only note I didn't appreciate, otherwise I would have given an even higher score, is that sip after sip it has an increasingly marked bitter note.. otherwise a masterpiece!
