Here's the surprise: for a rum this heavily sweetened, the sugar doesn't fully smooth things out. The nose is the strong part — caramel, cola, a nutty edge — but the palate turns flat and burnt-sugary, with a chocolate note and a bit of alcohol sharpness poking through. The smell is still the best thing about this rum, then in the mouth is the total crash. With almost 100g / L actually already a liqueur, yet the sugar does not manage to round off the sharpness in the mouth and aftertaste. The extreme sweetness and spiciness is irritating and one wonders why so much sugar was added at all if a certain spiciness was intended. This rum is a strange accident.

Simply a paradise for beginners. My first rum, a sweet memory. Now under the name Hell. It seems to me that under this name it’s not as good anymore.

I am firmly convinced that the almost 100g sugar per liter here is a wrong figure. You don't notice it, or at least not to that extent. While the nose is still quite decent, it gets really flat taste-wise in comparison. Roasty was probably the goal, burnt sugar stuff the result. Still: not as sweet as it should be, not as bad as it could be. Addendum: By now it mainly feels chocolatey with alcoholic sharpness. No such mass of sugar as suspected, but definitely sweetness is used to mask it.
