Overall a rum that will do better in cocktails and drinks than been zipped straight. Rum-Bar Silver from Worthy Park is an unaged low ABV Jamaican rum. It’s a blend of three different rums with different fermentation times. It’s made from molasses from sugar cane grown on their own estate in a Forsyth double retort copper pot still, and bottled without additives.

#5989 23.11.2025 Relaxing after bringing my wife to the airport and now watching Silence of the Lamps, one of my favourite movies. Nose Fruity, banana, light olive, light funk, citrus, light polish, light floral, faint herbs, ester. Palate Fresh, fruity, citrus, light floral, light honey, light polish, banana, faint tea, ester. Finish Medium to long, citrus, ester, light glue, banana. Empty glass Banana, light citrus, light honey, light herbsm faint vegetal. This is definitely a mixer and it did pretty well in a Papsi Max to my surprise.

Nose: Here we go with my first taste of Jamaica. The first whiff from the bottle is that of a farm on a rainy day...! Tractors, wet hay, pig slop, dirty barnyard floors... Thankfully, once adjusted, on comes banana, pineapple and apple purée spoiling in the hot sun. A few sniffs deeper it turns vegetal (artichoke antipasto) and grassy. Putting it all together, I'm thinking Tabasco, car fuel, with a light rhubarb and melon rind, and wonder if people honestly drink this? Mouth: The palate is a mild echo of the nose, though sweeter and with less farm. Finish: A short to medium finish of bitter fruit skins and citrus sharpness. The more I drink, the more I think I'm beginning to understand the appeal. Impression: My tastings of white rum up until now have often been an exercise in near sensory deprivation in order to pull out any notes, pleasant or otherwise. This Jamaican is like being punched in the nose in comparison. Mixed with cola or grapefruit juice, I have found myself drinking this bottle very fast; it just works. I'm going to have to try the Gold very soon, which at least should prove to be a better sipper than the Silver.

A great budget rum with the signature flavors of a “white Jamaican” rum, like Wray & Nephew but at an easier going ABV. Certainly will work it’s way into cocktails and is okay neat, but not great.
