#4448 02.11.2023 This is just up my alley and I am already at bottle number three. One bottle batch one dead and at bottle number two of batch two. Really intense profile with lots of esters. Needs to rest for a good while before giving it a go.

... Hampden, the legendary Jamaican distillery, which besides rum also produces alcohol for perfume. In all rums from this distillery you feel wild esters, after which your whole body soaks in the scent of yellow tropical fruit - mango, papaya, pineapple, peach. One of the rums you "must try before you die".

In the nose, we find ourselves directly in the production department of pattex (it's glue for those who are not very handyman). It is ultra loaded in ester, there is rubber, solvents, nail polish ... But not only, we find some spices and exotic fruit as Hampden knows how to get it (melon and lemon peel). The mouth is powerful and alcoholic but does not knock us out despite the 85.6%. It is rather surprising. We find the funky of Hampden and its esters, its olive and the very expressive fruitiness (green apple). It is intense, vigorous.

Read full review →This rum is exceptional in several ways. It contains a really large amount of esters, has high % alcohol, is a very limited edition and the bottle is quite interesting. Definitely not a rum for beginners... nor if you're just flirting with Jamaica.
