Here's the twist: this is a Rum-Verschnitt, a blend of real Jamaican rum stretched with neutral spirit, and it tastes like it. Many thanks Johannes for this blind tasting. #No.4 The nose is a bit strange... some ester but not really nice, more like a Jamaica rum that was stored in a plastic container... mmh On the palate then much better... first short light sweetness then definitely Jamaica with tropical fruits and glue 😊 ... but also seems a bit artificial here, still not bad on the palate.

Johannes Blind-Tasting Set No. 4. On the nose, I perceive citrus fruits and light ester notes. On the palate, it is extremely sweet, almost as if a dosage was added. Over time, some bitterness and allspice join in. These then dominate the finish. Overall, the rum seems quite one-dimensional to me... my guess is South America or a blend.

Blend. Musty nose. Taste not clearly definable. Hardly any molasses or rum notes. But also not a bad schnapps. More suitable for baking, probably.

Blindtasting #4: first sensation: Hampden HLCF. Some funk and sweetness. Tropical fruits. On the palate: watered down. Rather sweet. Some funk and fruits - could be HLCF 🤔 Cheers, Johannes for the set - was a blast to taste.

Not my thing at all. The nose already shows a somewhat strange wax note alongside tropical fruits and a bitter-spicy barrel influence. On the palate it unfortunately doesn't get better, the rather unusual mix is joined by a fairly present roasted note, which finally takes away my enjoyment.

Number four from Johannes' blind tasting sample set. For me a typical Jamaican, towards Hampden in the low ester range. Overall a bit too thin and watered down. Nothing I would need again now.

For 40%, this rum is quite alcoholic and sharp-edged both on the nose and tasteless. Jamaica is clearly recognizable with plenty of esters but overall rather unbalanced and spritzy, vegetal and slightly burnt.

Blind tasting set from Johannes (thanks for that): Nose like a Jamaican, with some ester and fruit, but with a note very unpleasant to me. On the palate still Jamaican, but very thin and watered down.

Musty, artificial, very sweet. Somehow strange. Quite sharp although thin in the mouth. Absolutely not my thing and quality-wise rather bad.
