Fourteen tropical years turned this Marie-Galante agricole into something you wouldn't expect from cane juice: toffee-honey sweetness, roasted oak and dried fruit sitting next to grassy, eucalyptus and lime notes. One taster called it a "tropical Caroni without tar and rubber." The 53.7% is buried so well you barely feel it. Dense, concentrated and genuinely demanding — several agreed it's nothing to sip absent-mindedly.

The 2001 Bielle Single Casks impress with their impressive aromas, which combine heavy dark fruits, floral notes, a balanced wood influence and subtle spicy aromas. The complexity is impressive and the flavor profiles are wonderfully balanced. With their heavy fruitiness and subtle cola notes, the releases are somewhat reminiscent of Damoiseau - this cask #2 stands out once again thanks to the very harmonious overall picture in the already very impressive field of other 2001 single cask releases. An absolutely outstanding release, which surprisingly lived a rather shadowy existence for a long time, but is now receiving the recognition it deserves. Excellent!

Some may say this is an expensive rum but once you had a meeting with it I'm pretty sure you're going to change your mind. A super rum Agricole worth every penny. After resting for. Awhile the nose reveals roasted oak with nice fruits and spices. There is a bit of honey and very light grass notes as well. A very intense but nice array of flavours. The palate is a wonder of intensity and complexity as well as being very well balanced. The ABV is perfectly integrated and you barely feel it. Again lightly roasted oak with fruits and spices as well as a hint of caramel and chocolate. The finish is løng with oak and spices topped off with a touch of raisin. Wonderful rum indeed.

Nutty, banana, dried fruit and polish. Animal. Alcohol well integrated, powerful. Very complex and balanced nose. Smells like a tropical aged Caroni without tar and rubber. Beautiful! In the mouth citrus and honey. Sparkling and powerful. Very good rum with a pronounced animal note. I would have hardly recognized Bielle. Quite a bit better than #4.

Bielle Tasting 2001 No. 4 This release is more towards Agricole and the vegetal aromas come through quite clearly especially in the finish. On the palate, coffee, dried fruits, chocolate, and barrel are also noticeable. These Bielles are just unbelievably good.

Continuing with Daniel's awesome split. Here I agree with him, this one is also too bitter for me, so the roastiness and spiciness unfortunately don't come through as much. Caramel and vanilla are subtly recognizable.

Oh wow, what a complex, beautiful rum. The 14 tropical years of maturation have given it a multi-layered palette of aromas. Nose: An insanely great blend of creamy toffee-honey sweetness, spicy wood aromas, fresh grassy notes with medicinal hints and sweet-tart fruitiness. Initially soft banana with honey. Alongside this, soft liquorice and a medicinal, fine salt note. Somehow goes well with the vanilla cream toffee. Could smell it forever. 9,3 Palate: here it goes strongly in the direction of Agricole. Woody, salty and grassy, with camomile and a clear eucalyptus note at the beginning. Also liquorice and lime. Has a slightly metallic effect. If it had the even softer and sweeter aromas of the nose, it would be lengths better. 8,5

Rhum Bielle LMDW 2001 X-Tasting: A unique set that Daniel dug up here. Over time this rum becomes more complex, the aromas more intense. You can feel like sitting forever with the glass and discover new aromas! Alcohol really perfectly integrated!

"Great Bielle 2001 Cross-Tasting": and again this "meaty" smoky fermented note that seems to appear only in some barrels is present. It also goes away with standing time and is not too dominant but it is there😄 here it is complemented aromatically by eucalyptus, salted caramel, lime peel and kaffir lime leaves and a very oily sweetness reminiscent of a Fish house punch cocktail (black tea + peach + arrack + rum + nutmeg + lemon). Extremely dense, concentrated and complex for sure and overall really tasty and the longest finish felt so far. However, also really demanding and not something for casual sipping... The quality is extremely high anyway!

Epic BIELLE 2001 Tasting. A great vintage, the set was consistently of high quality. Only RX5741 and RX4918 were a bit too woody/bitter for me. There was also a clear winner, the cask selected by Kirsch was for me the most intense, most harmonious. Here was a perfect mix of wood, fruit and spices. The blend is also great, but at 45% it suffers a bit weakly on the palate. Overall I think the highest quality set I've tasted and I believe you will never get one like this again.

Wow, a very tasty Agricole. Fruity and spicy on the nose, with hints of the typical floral Agricole notes. This continues on the palate, with the grassy notes now becoming stronger. Long, spicy finish. The last 1cl for a final tasting...

Thanks Daniel for this killer split! All rums seem to be at a very high level. I taste some fruit, especially orange, tannins and spices from the cask, very slight grassiness of the agricole and a hint of mint. The whole is rather dry, with little sweetness, which does not bother. Overall, the profile somewhat reminds me of old Armagnacs, in a positive way. Alcohol integration is great. For me, the best of the three tasted casks, as it is a bit more pointed and balanced in the aromas.
