Nice old Port Mourant with surprisingly much depth for its young bottling age. On the nose, still a bit youthful at first, with wood, dark fruit, and a slight alcohol note. On the palate, then noticeably toastier than expected, with lots of spice, dark aromas, and a really nice complexity. The port wine influences also come through very well and give the rum an exciting additional dimension. Despite the high strength, it remains surprisingly easy to drink and very well balanced. I like it a lot.

I expected a bit more. It has nice PM notes, but unfortunately the bitterness is dominant from start to finish. I'll let it sit a bit longer and hope more comes out. 45 minutes later it gets better.

#7444 12.10.2026 Relaxing with some samples while listening to some nice Trance on Spotify. Very good and rare bottling. Intense, fruits, roasted wood, molasses, spice, chocolate, pencil shavings, licorice, light mint.

Young PM, 1989 vintage. Interesting PM nose, but strong port notes on palate, too much for me.. well balanced, wood, dried fruit, floral, spicy, leather etc.. Not for 90+ rating but top quality rum.

Wow, one of the youngest bottled from 1989. Bottled in 2001, so only 12 years old. Clear Port influences on the palate.

Typical old Diamond, woody. But burns on the tongue like no other rum. The same way like young cachaca. And I feel too many tanins there
