One taster called it "un petit punch à lui tout seul" — a white agricole loud enough to carry a ti-punch on its own. Blind tasting: First nose, a fruit eau-de-vie, probably plum, surprising! But it dissipates quickly, a profile more oriented towards sugarcane, indulgence, freshness, slight traces of anise, menthol, and small salty notes. It quickly reminds me of the recent tasting of Chantal Compte "Fighting Spirit," and the indulgence/freshness points me towards pure cane juices from Mauritius. On the palate, cane, citrus, lime, no doubt, it's a pure juice, probably agricole. Even if this indulgence and the impression of mentholated freshness are a bit out of the ordinary for Martinique, why not? The proof is moderate, probably 52° (I'm quite bad at this kind of guessing, my palate doesn't differentiate much between 50 and 60...). A finish with slight pepper, citrus, some floral notes, and at the bottom of the glass, a bit of pear. I like it a lot and stick to my first idea. My guess: Chantal Compte "Fighting Spirit Green Lagoon," Mauritius, which I imagine at 52°. *Drumroll* >>> Chantal Compte "Fighting Spirit Gold," Martinique, 50% NB: I understand the price might be off-putting, but when I see this rum rated 7.5/10, it's still surprising! Anyway, the Mauritius from the same series is even better ;)

My sample was not good, burning, dry, frankly unpleasant. Maybe to taste again, but I don't feel like it. Remarkable in pastry, after testing.

Awesome, Chantal Rum :-) but really a pretty good one. Nose is really very vegetal, olives etc. On the palate also vegetal and lots of fruit. Rum is really not bad, but there are better ones in this price category.

A little punch all by itself...

Very powerful and alcoholic white rum for 50% vol. The nose is marked on the floral side and on the fruity. The sugar cane asserts itself gradually with a nice vegetal side. With rest, you find a salty hint with iodine. The palate is identical to the nose with a slightly more pronounced vegetal side. The finish, marked by the power of the alcohol, finally opens up on sugar cane, honey, spices and saltiness with this atypical iodized side.

FFS fruity floral salty a good white but for the price there is better! Chantal Comte’s palate works wonders on aged rums, her selections are among the best BDF you can taste, the rums are simply orgasmic. For whites, my cousin Richard with all the ti punchs he drinks might do better!
