Jack Tar Caroni Old Music! Series Rapso Edition 1997
People who love Caroni rate this one high, and the reviews line up: tar, rubber and oil up front, but with a pleasant sweetness, tropical fruit, coffee and dark chocolate rounding it out. Several tasters call it a touch softer and rounder than its sibling from the same year — the "dirty" notes are there but slightly less sharp. Long, dry, tannic finish at full proof.
The community says- Classic Caroni tar
- Rounder and sweeter
- But: High proof heat

30.05.2020 Had a nice afternoon with friends and friends of friends including some nice bottles of rum. Notes Medium dark in colour. Nose Balanced, wood, light roasted, light caramel, cherry, tar. Palate Oily, balanced, natural sweetness, tar, light rubber, faint smoke, wood, roasted, dried fruit. Finish Medium to long, wood, roasted, light smoke, tar, light rubber, raisin, faint chocolate.
Review by Jakob
I like it a bit better than the second 1997 bottling from the Caroni Old Music series. A bit rounder in direct comparison, the Caroni-typical dirty notes are a bit less accentuated, although still clearly recognizable. Somewhat sweeter, more balanced, more drinkable.

A lovely 1997 continentally aged Caroni. As always Tar, rubber and oils but then Im getting a pleasant sweetness coming through as well! Fruits, coffee/chocolate as well as some wood. The oak isn't overpowering at all. Very enjoyable with a longish finish.
