Foursquare The Real McCoy Limited Edition Rum (Virgin Oak) 2017
Most people land on this as a dependable, spice-forward Foursquare — oak, vanilla, toffee and burnt sugar, with a woodiness the virgin oak clearly leaves behind. A few call it their easy way into Barbados rum; others find it a bit too woody or too smoothed-out, and one taster was plainly let down by the virgin-oak direction. Honest, drinkable, not exciting.

Overall a rum that can’t disappoint anyone in my opinion. We were some friends teaming up at Cane Rum Society in Stockholm to celebrate Foursquare Appreciation Day. One of the rums I tasted was this Real McCoy which is a blend of rums 10-12 years old aged in American Virgin oak and former Bourbon casks. It’s a Limited edition of just 3000 bottles, bottled in 2017 at ABV 46%.

The good starter rum in the Barbados Foursquare world. Nothing necessarily outstanding or unusual, but still a solid bottling with good quality as usual. A little too reduced for me in the meantime.

This rum has a very good price to quality and a good rum for beginners as well. The nose has oak, fruit and spices from the start and then there is a hint of caramel. This is easy to pick up if you leave the empty glass for a few hours and then nose it. The palate is lightly dry and sweet with oak and fruit vith some vanilla and then chocolate and caramel is trailing behind. The finish is medium long with oak and spice trailed by chocolate and caramel.

a little too woody but still very tasty and very dry!

The nose is caramel, vanilla honey and fruit. In the mouth it is beautifully spicy, with lovely woody tones and only very light fruit. The finish is beautifully long, the spices continue. Conclusion: Very good rum for the money

Sehr guter Rum, überrascht positiv mit seiner Würzigkeit, die sich durch den Geruch alleine zunächst nicht erahnen lässt.

Very smooth! Flavors of caramel, vanilla, and oak with a hint of sweetness. The empty glass smells smokey and sweet after sitting for a few minutes
