A.A. Baker & Co. S.p.A. Battle Axe Baker Rum
What catches people off guard here is how well a 60% Jamaican from a much older era holds together. Esters and tropical fruit lead — pineapple, passion fruit — then old smoky oak and honey pull in behind, with an unusual herbal streak running through. The alcohol sits well-integrated rather than hot, and the finish runs long on smoked wood. A few tasters guessed Long Pond blind.
- Well-integrated 60%
- Tropical ester profile
- Long smoky finish

Review by cigares
A rum tasted at the German Rum Festival in Berlin at 2024. Tropical fruit, esters, pineapple and passion fruit, but on the other hand, old wood with lots of smoke and honey. Esters dominate on the palate, soon overtaken by smoky old wood and some fruit. The finish is long, marked by smoky wood.

It's crazy that 60% were distilled so well here at the time. Top integrated, wacky herbal note and nice mouthfeel. Would I blindly guess long Pond? Very cool number! Thanks Sebastian & Dejan!
